I'm not really going to include the 2D bosses, because the 2D games were inherently more difficult when it came to fighting enemies etc imo.

After Zelda jumped in 3D, combat just wasn't as dangerous anymore, but every now and again there would be a rare rude awakening.

As a kid I found Phantom Ganon hard, beat him first time on 3DS so I guess I was just a little ******** as a child, but I never had any difficulty after that in the game. I think it was just the fact that I had such little health and I wasn't fast enough with the bow.

Gyorg from Majora's Mask. I was pretty careless the first time I faced off against him as a 10 year old, so complacent was I that I spent more time talking to my friends and messing around than focusing on the fight. Needless to say I actually died, was offended by the fact that I died, and turned off the console and refused to finish Great Bay temple for about a year or more. When I did come back to Great Bay I even had the mirror shield and stuff, was pretty funny, but he was still a pretty mean dude. Played him JUST now and he's still just as punishing as before, you have to be real careful with him. Stand in the centre dammit!

First battle with Ghirahim. He wasn't crushingly difficult by any means, but he actually needed you to focus, and you didn't have many hearts to take care of yourself with. Mitigated by the recovery hearts all around the boss room. Although I haven't played Hero Mode I imagine those aren't there in that, so don't screw up!

That's off the top of my head, who ranks up there for you?

Remember, there are some universally difficult bosses, but some are also only difficult to certain people due to their individual playstyles. I made Skyward Sword more difficult for myself than I should have because I never used the shield until the final battle, mostly because I didn't want it to break at first, and by the time I got the Goddess/Hylian shields, I just wasn't in the habit of using it. Yes seriously no shield, you guys should try that LOL

I'm gonna try a no shield, 1 heart, hero mode runthrough once the save edittor comes out.
That is legitimately impossible afaik.

Hope you're good at jumping!

Gonna agree with Phantom Ganon. It's funny because he's actually harder than his real version-self in my opinion.

For some reason Bongo Bongo was a pain in the ***. I kept getting bounced up and down from him beating the drum. Not sure if I was able to do anything during that, but for some reason, I became useless when he did that to me. Kind of embarrassing I guess haha. For some reason I Gyorg easier, though definitely hard, towards the end I was hoping desperately that the next Zora lightning attack would end him. Thankfully I was able to beat him on the first try just barely (I never reached him when I was young, quit at each water temple in the first two 3D zelda games ^^; )

Demise actually gave me trouble unless I either have multiple fairies or one guardian potion. The lightning attacks for some reason don't go as smoothly as I tend to think it would when doing it in game, so I get hit. In Hero Mode it actually became a problem, but I never lost thankfully due to my bottles.

Gyorg is the hardest goddamn 3D boss in the series. No matter how good you are at Zelda games, Gyorg will **** you.

On the other hand, Goht is the most enjoyable boss fight in the series.

Do minibosses count? Since the second battle with that pirate robot in SS in the final temple was so hard for me... Took me more than an hour and like 30 tries until I figured it out :(

For a real boss I consider Majoras Mask to be very hard, couldn't beat him without Fierce Deity, but I got to the last part though.

How did Dreadfuse challenge you so much? Did you spend more than an hour fighting Scervo on the Sandship? Basically the exact same battle + electricity.

I found him hard because I didn't use my shield. In hindsight if I actually shielded every attack, he probably wouldn't be tough.

I also still don't get why they made Twinmold so easy, ironically as the last boss he's the easiest of the four. Definitely much easier than your first fight with Odolwa.

I don't know, I beat Scervo without taking a single hit, but somehow Dreadfuse screwed me up. Maybe it's just that I died and got frustrated and then impatient and went on a losing streak, but yes, he was the hardest boss of all time for me in the whole series so far xD

When I first fought Gyorg he was pretty difficult, but now he's pretty easy.

I think the hardest boss in a 3d Zelda is [glow]Demise[/glow]

For me, it's problably Demise, just because I don't shield enough.

:phone:
Edit: I don't really find Gyorg that hard. As for Phantom Ganon, I agree he's harder than normal Ganon. However, I'd say the hardest boss in OoT for me was Volvagia.

Demise, if you dont up your shield you'll know why, besides that he's pretty easy
But the hardest first boss I've played in Zelda is none other than Ghirahim...I failed 5 times my shield broke 4 out of 5 and that mofo stole my sword atleast once each time.

Outside of Gyorg (who didn't give me quite as much hassle on my more recent playthroughs) I had a ton of trouble with Koloktos from SS the first time I fought him.
Yeah he was one of the few bosses in the series I had to seriously try again a few times and think what I am doing wrong.

Gyorg is the toughest 3D boss for me.

Koloktos put up a pretty good fight my first time against him but I didn't find him TOO hard. Really enjoyed that battle.

MM: Gyorg was the most annoying boss. Not sure about difficult, but I can never get out of the water without getting eaten or damaged. Really annoying with 5-6 hearts. Do not even want to think about it with only 3 hearts.

OoT: Bongo Bongo with only 5 hearts and only a hookshot for stunning his hands is super irritating. That along with no lens of truth forced me to have to rely on spin attack charging which if I messed up, you get hit into the damaging floor. Hated doing that fight.

SS: I find the 2nd formation of the Imprisoned is the form I hate the most. That or the first round of the 3rd formation of the Imprisoned. I can never seem to do those fights without taking massive amounts of damage.

WW: None to complain about.

TP: The final fight, Ganon. I can never get him to charge me and it takes forever to beat him.

It seems like it would be very hard to beat Demise without your shield yet people do it. Probably takes a lot of practice to get the timing right..

I'm gonna go with Ghirahim 3rd battle. The thick sword he had was a pain >_> and the 3rd Imprisoned battle.

But prior to SS, it was Phantom Ganon because I could never tell the difference between the real one and the fake one. I know it has to do with their color (one's lighter) but I always forget which is which :p

I'm surprised to hear a few people say that phantom ganon was one of the hardest bosses.

Sure, he might be a bit hard the first time, but they're much harder bosses out there.

Well Bongo Bongo gave me a little bit of trouble the first time. Other than that most bosses in Zelda games are kinda easy. Wish they were harder, most bosses are easily beat on the 1st try.

Yea, the 3d Zelda game bosses are pretty easy. Although, I think that out of all the 3d Zelda games, SS has the hardest bosses.

Honestly, I never really found 3D boss fights to be all that hard. I do remember having a difficult time with Barinade when I was a kid. Otherwise, it wasn't all that bad. I think the problem, especially with the more recent games, is that bosses do so little damage to you, especially in Twilight Princess, while you have, like, 17 hearts; each hit dealing about 1/4-1/2 a heart's worth of damage. I haven't played Skyward Sword, so I can't judge the bosses in that game, though I wouldn't be too surprised if boss fights are tame there too.

The first time I played OOT Phantom Ganon took me a while to beat :( I'm glad I'm not alone.

I also had absolutely no idea how to beat Dark Link when I first fought him. I don't think he managed to kill me, but it took a while.

For some reason, I never found Phantom Ganon to be very difficult. I knew I had to use the arrows somehow, and when it was time to play tennis with him, I immediately thought back at the strategy used to defeat Aghanim in A Link to the Past to figure that one out.
