Hard time against Link

First of all:
I don't care about tier lists, Link is ****ing not low tier, also Ness and Lucas aren't

idk, I have much trouble fighting Link...
-he gimps me with his bow 'n boomerang
-he outranges me (curse you, d-smash 'n f-smash!)
-his u-smash outpriotisizes my Nair and makes it hard to approach... and it's nasty
-he's way too powerful

one thing I love about him is to spot dodge his D-air and instantly punish him with a Shoryuken or up angled Fsmash ;3

I'm a decent Luigi player, I know most of the basic combos, and I really need some advise against him :(

Note: no I can't link (haha...) some videos of me, I do not own a Wii compatible SD-Card

oh well, since I'm asking for advise, I've read several times about "crawl dashing". I know that Luigi can crawl (which I sometimes use as a taunt D: ), but was is it and how does it work?

thanks in advance

Noo don't close a topic just because someone has a hard time with a low tier matchup. Its alright Cheese.

Anyway the only advice I can give with link is to tornado to get within range and spam Utilt and air juggles. Don't stay directly below or above him, Link's Uair and Dair will **** you unless you're a little bit to the side. Oh, and Fsmash is easy to land on Link because hes big and heavy, so kill with that. Gimp with Bair, lots.

Edit: This is Luigiking posting from another account, woops.

Crewster. In all honesty, you act like some ****ing ****** that owns this board like your ****. I don't know how to even explain it, but you gotta stop act like you own this board.

Anyways, approaching is pretty difficult. you can easily powershield the arrows/boomerangs/Z-catch the bombs. Alot of links love to Zair spam.

will post more.

Yeah. My friend mains Link and I main Luigi and that is honestly his only character that he can consistently beat me with.

Link is very heavy and pretty vulnerable in the air. If you get him just slightly off of the ledge and fair him, he's pretty much done. Also, Link is a beast on the ground, but he can't match Luigi at all in the air. A good strategy for approach is to either ride his boomerang towards him or use your tornado as a quick approach. Then, dodge to throw him off, up-tilt spam him and then try an up-smash and when he's back on the ground, try shield-grabbing him and then down-throwing him and as soon as he bounces upwards, short hop into a nair (which has ridiculous priority) and then hit him with other aerials.

Another good way to approach any character really is to keep short hopping towards them while launching fireballs. They sometimes negate Link's arrows, boomerangs, and his bombs. Also, short hop dairs are awesome because the hit box is deceiving and they destroy people.

Link has some really powerful attacks on the ground, but they leave him rather vulnerable. He's actually a pretty easy character to shield grab or spot dodge into a side smash.

Honestly, best thing to do against Link is to stay in his face and keep him in the air. Luigi floats for a reason and has ridiculous air priority. If you get good, you'll find yourself up-tilt spamming people into an up-smash, and then jumping towards them and hitting them three, four, five+ times in the air before they even hit the ground. Just don't get predictable.

Hope that helps.

Don't get caught up in his upsmash ever, there are many things you could do to him in his vulnerability after that move. One is a jab, UpB, or jab d-tilt, f-smash.
I do roll in this match-up, not a lot but when he SHZair or f-smashes, the easy way to get around is to roll>f-smash

Ok sorry. I don't know what I'm talking about and I'm going way over my head.
Anyway, if he gims you with bow air dodge and then on the return it will pull you back.

I play versus a pretty good Link main on a regular basis. My first piece of advice is: forget about the tiers. Please. If you go in with the mentality that you're fighting against a crappy character then you are going to get obliterated.

Firstly, Spot-dodging is your friend, bigtime. Also, I usually don't say this but rolls are good here, too.
When you're not close to Link, most of the time he will try to use the Hero's Bow or the Gale Boomerang. Use this chance to close in with a quick tornado, since it clanks with them (but not his bombs, so watch out)

Limit your SH approaches... they're useful as a mix-up, but you need to be extra careful. SHAD approaches are great if they are predictable. Fireball approaches are ok, but not projectile wars.

Honestly, Link's jab is more dangerous than his Fsmash. Learn to prepare a second spotdodge versus Link's Fsmashes and you have a grand opportunity for an Fsmash of your own. Link's jab can cancel into grabs and his Up-B, which can kill at 120% near the edge.

In the air, you can outspeed him from both sides. From below and above, you can airdodge if you think an Upair or Dair is coming and do a counterattack. Remember that Link falls much faster than you, so coming from below is usually not a bad idea once you get used to the Link you are fighting.

When you are falling and Link is waiting for you on the ground, you can, with good timing, airdodge through the last part of an Usmash and Nair or jab-grab (make good use of fastfalling at the perfect time for this) or simply airdodge and DI away, and you'll usually be OK, sometimes you can even counterattack. Good Links will start using Utilt to counter this tactic, so beware.

Most of Link's moves are punishable in SOME way, especially by Luigi. The biggest piece of advice I can give you is this... BAIT HIM!! Link has precious few moves that can be spammed safely (zair, projectiles, that's about it) So that means you should fake approaches, sit and shield, do whatever it takes to make Link attack and MISS... and then you've got an instant combo for 20-40%... if you can bait laggy moves like the Dair and a whiffed grapple (if you shield enough, they'll try it), then you've got yourself a free shoryuken~

Oh, and one more thing. You should recover high or you risk getting hit by arrows and boomerangs (if you recover middle) and bombs (if you recover low) land with a tornado if Link is NOT directly below you for safety against projectiles.

yeah, I pretty much said that at the beginning of my post :3
there are no tiers for me, if a MK or triple D beats, it's not because of he's top tier, it's because of that he's better than me :3

Good links are hard to beat with luigi since he can move fast if used properly, spam fest, good priority, too heavy to jab up b,

But easy to gimp
