Hacking save files

I was thinking that in the future when the clone engine is done, and characters can easily be added to the CSS. There should be more done to make them feel "legit".

Hacking save files comes in as a necessity here, if you want customized characters to feel legit then they'll need to have their own value for storing records.

What I want more though, is to have new characters be...well unlockable. I find nothing more satisfying that accomplishing a great task and seeing the WARNING! CHALLENGER APPROACHING! screen appear.

I remember you mentioning this to me... The only problem with what your saying it, how would that affect normal play? Badly, that's how. I'm talking about not even being able to play. The only way the wouldn't ruin vBrawl is if we gave the game and save file new ID's, in other words, make them... A whole new game. I don't see any point in discussing this this early on.

If you're intent on giving a legitimate feel to newly added characters, hacking the save file wouldn't nearly be enough. You would have to hack the actual game, where the information is stored.

Not really. You could add new ID's without making the same files incompatible. It would be hard to load the game without codes, however.
