Greninja up ability not working?

I pretty much always die as greninja when pushed off the edge because of my up ability not working. After i die im like "ok wtf", i look at my stick and it's pointing MUCH more up than to the left or right. Does it have to be directly, perfectly up for it to work?

circle pad issues man, having the same thing doing the shadow walk thingy instead of up B.

Try recalibrating your circle pad in the system settings.
