Green Missile

Hey Luigi boards. I want to discuss a move that is in a gray area for me: green missile
How often do you use it and do you find it useful? I don't know if I know what I'm talking about, but I think the fact that you can hold the missile for as long as you want makes it capable of maybe play some tricks on your opponent. Someone without a projectile would probably have trouble approaching since you have a chance of getting a miss fire or it can travel normally to hit them. It seems like it could work once in a while, maybe.
Also, I've been finding myself using it as an edgeguard. They have to worry about you randomly launching yourself at them while recovering horizontally. Even if they manage to airdodge it or avoid it, you still might have time to quickly recover. Misfires are nice too.
Okay, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but how about we discuss a little about the green missile. If you have a comment such as "it sucks" please explain why :]
Help me out here

I don't recommend it as a recovery unless absolutely needed , and If you do use it sweetspot it, the perfect spot for that is just below the ledge. Also never charge it, either you do a little damage and get up, or you misfire, never let it hold because that means punishment. The time it takes for Luigi to get back up to his neutral position is brutally slow, so only use it if you are 100% sure it will connect.

As a recovery again you never want to use it too low on the ledge or you will experience the animation where Luigi's head is stuck in the wall, avoid that at all costs, it is a death trap.

Remember some information like it is a 12.5% chance of misfiring, and that is one of the reasons it is so close, because you should use green missile sparingly, you may get one chance to misfire every 2-3 matches, so make it count and stay close.

To surprise the enemy with a green missile you need to do it when the opponent is about to become vulnerable, like as stated above during a spotdodge, this way there is no time to react, you know what to do, and it gives the attack time to initiate, this attack also takes a considerably long time to start.

Never use this move to move yourself, at whatever cost use something else, there is too much on the line. As far as risk-reward ratios go on this move it is low. Not too low, but not good. This is because two main reasons. One, it is a long, dangerous attack, and two, it has mixed properties. Move should be done at high percentiles because that way it has a higher chance it kill, it is an almost useless setup move because it takes so long for Luigi to get up aswell. Use it if you need space, as a surprise, or if absolutely needed a recovery. It is a predictable and slow move, but if you are smart and you know for example how long you opponent is after a specific attack, or when your opponent is most likely to spotdodge, this move can be used as a great tactic.

There are no specific combos or ATs for this move to my knowledge and there can be some use of mindgames but you must be careful. I use it like stated above, not as a mindgame.

I hope this helps you out.

hmmm i agree with what kigbariom said, here's an example of what i sometimes do to incorporate mindgames and possibly a lucky K.O. http://youtube.com/watch?v=37rw7arU7DA ....watch the last like...10 seconds to see my point. i'm sure this has been done by others, it's funny how it works out.

Yeah, I see what you are talking about, because of the fact that you can get lucky like that the move is worth a try, it may have KOed without misfire aswell which it is best to only do it at high percents.
By the way, fantastic Luigi KC, those SH aerials and f-smashes were really really nice.

Wow Kigbariom, I didn't think I'd get a response such as that :o
I was just fascinated by this move and you really had some good reasoning concerning when to use it and when not to.
Also KC, that was an amazing KO :]

No problem, you see I'm not one who always writes wall of text, but I figured I know a lot about it, and I don't do it often enough so, there you go!

I like to end combos with it. If you misfire, they'll die. Hippie has 0-death'd me like this. They respawn, you Luigi combo them to 50, misfire, dead. Ifft doesn't misfire, whatever, they can't punish you.

Otherwise, don't use this. Unless you have to for recovery, or if you're trying to ledge sweetspot.

Wishing Apex 2012 happened again.
Green missle as a charging up only works most likely once or twice. Mostly to mindgame the person holding their shield or they have crappy approachings. But every pro player won't fall for this, probably once or twice if they're lousy (which they shouldn't or else they're asking for a shoryuken <3] but after that they will read you.

It works alot harder people against the Dream Land chars, people who are friggin short like that ***, Metaknight >.<.

Occasionally I messed around with it as a edgeguard gimp. Again, works like once or twice and after that they read you like a open book.

Lol @ delta idr the 0 death XD but i do reemember misfiring you many times
