Grassroots Neighbor: Tech City 10!

With several big names heading to PAX Arena, Texas is set to have some serious talent present for some spectacular Smash. However, with the event being announced so suddenly and limited availability to attend, many of the best players in Texas will not even be able to attend. Enter Tech City 10: a local, more-cost effective alternative that boasts Melee, Smash 4, and even Smash 64. As an eSports giant rumbles in Texas, this grassroots event will be trying new things and still expects to thrive.

The Big One: Smash 4

The largest event at Tech City 10 is bound to be Smash 4. Some of the best players in the area are already confirmed to be attending for Smash 4. Expect a nice chunk of the Rio Grande Valley's power-ranked players, including their number one in Haipe and his deadly Ryu, and Snax, a real "Killager". Sometimes special guests come down as well, such as Dojo, JBAndrews, and Krebs. This week, three stocks are being tested as well, so it should be an interesting way to see how the ruleset works. With PAX Arena being too rough for most, a $5 venue fee, a gamer's special on soda and pizza, and the top 8 being included in the next Tech City flyer, there is a good chance many will take the opportunity to attend.

The event is taking place January 30th and will be streamed by Team Free. More information on the event can be found on its Smashboards event post. Excited to see how grassroots competes with eSports? Sound off in the comments below and be sure to tune in: it should be quite the show!
