Just to let you know this should be a low priority and this is only a suggestion.
So now that all the characters are in. I'd like to share my idea with you guys. Now as you all know PM looks exactly like Brawl in game with some animation differences. One thing that annoys me to death at a tournament or on Youtube's comment section is that people ignore the video name (for example Big House 3 Project M Grand Finals) and are like "I came to watch Brawl but I got stupid PM" or "I wanted Melee but I got Brawl." So I was thinking maybe you guys can make your own unique character models? I'm not saying completely change Brawl's graphics (even though they're bland as hell) but maybe you guys can create your own unique graphics with new character models. It would make PM look even more like it's own game. Also you guys can get rid everything that says "Brawl" on it (ex. Multi Man Brawl) Tell me what you think?

That would be a lot of work.
Maybe they can just add a big M symbol in the lower corner of the screen during a match or so, so that people immediately see it's PM.

"I wanted Melee but I got Brawl."
This is exactly why I think it's not worth the effort to change the entire look of the game. Melee and Brawl are miles apart aesthetically, and if those two still get mixed up, you know you're dealing with stupid people.

Creating custom models for every character wouldn't work as most characters have a particular base design - which you cannot change too much or people wouldn't recognize them anymore, or complain about how Link doesn't look like the real Link (the fighters usually appear fairly small while fighting, so the changes would have to stand out to tell them apart). Then there's the limited hardware of the Wii, which probably doesn't even allow new all-models without getting the hick-ups. Not even mentioning the work needed to create models for so many characters.
Of course, you could change the character textures to something less washed-out (which I personally really like, btw), but that would be a monstrous amount of work as that means you'd be changing at least 5 textures for 41 characters, plus the textures for every stage (as the styles between characters and stages would clash if you didn't).

I think either option would mean a lot of work for people that are too lame to read video titles; the changes to the HUD and the majority of stages we have now should be apparent enough for those with at least half a brain.

Alt costumes already help with this a bit. We also moved the timer to the center top of the screen to help differentiate it from Brawl so you know it's Project M you're watching as soon as you see the video.

I never said the entire look. Just the major things that stick out like a sour thumb. @MonkUnit They help a lot actually but I'd rather you guys at some point touch up the graphics on stages and characters. Not now but when the PMBR has the time to focus on the aesthetic things.

So, major things or small things?
Very curious though, what do you mean with "major things that stick out like a sour thumb"? Can you give any examples?

Results screen is one and lol at the things you bolded, that was so inconsistent on my part. Sorry.

0/10 not even worth a quick laugh

seems like wayyyy to much work just so some people can know before they click on a video that "ok it IS PM" i mean really, just looking at the small image preview on the video usually tells you whether its PM or brawl (hope i'm not sounding like a douche about it)

anyways, i thought this thread was about the OP giving the great suggestion of getting HD DL64, metal cavern, yoshis story, FD (not sure if possible) Pokemon Stadium 1, and hyrule temple (or castle w/e)

now that i would like to see, and its doable, although this is pretty low priority

Sorry but there isn't a very clear suggestion here. You're essentially asking that the aesthetics be touched up on, which there is already a topic for and also for the victory screen as well, and reworking entire stages and characters just so people don't confuse it for brawl or melee? That's a really minor problem if any at all.

It'd be better if the team focused on costumes and recolours instead of trying to redesign models and stages.

Honestly, if someone clicks on a video titled "Project M Tourney Semi-Finals" and thought it was a Brawl Tournament then they don`t deserve such a time consuming change.

I like the Smash 3 textures on the Brawl Vault. Any way you guys could collaborate with them or something and maybe use their textures? If the washed out colors of the default costumes is a problem, those would solve the problem. Just a suggestion. I don't mind the current costumes, nor do I confuse P:M for something else.

Link to the Smash 3 Project in case someone has no clue what I'm referring to.

I just want Project M to have it's own look in game. It'll take work but it'll pay off and it would be cool as hell to see what ideas you could come up with in terms of graphics.

That would be insanely cool as well. Brawl's graphics don't mix well with Melee's in my opinion.

yeah some stages look bland since they're not up to brawl standards of look and stuff, i think HD textures would be great for stages like this, and considering how much better FoD looks in 3.0 i think it would go a long way in the aesthetic portion of the stages
