I'm about to go to my first ever Smash 4 tournament on the 17th. My only experience with competitive Smash would be For Glory mode online so I'm really only used fd. I was wondering, what would the best stages for Captain Falcon be? This is the stage list, everything else not listed is banned.

Starter:
Battlefield
Final Destination/Omega Battlefield (Omega Battlefield is offered as a less flashy and distracting alternative to FD for those who hate how pornographic the scenery gets.)
Smashville
Town and City
Duck Hunt

Counter-pick:
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Halberd
Lylat Cruise
Kongo Jungle 64
Omega Boxing Ring (Walled Omega)
Omega Lylat (Evil Edge Omega)
Omega Norfair (Kind Edge Omega)

If you're only used to Omega stages, try to stick to those, otherwise your opponent will use platform stuffs against you more effectively than you can do it to them.

At least those are my 2 cents.

I can't vouch for specific stages, but if you can practice on the stages with platforms in then I would recommend it. More specifically practice on Duck Hunt, Lylat Cruise and Kongo Jungle 64 to start with, as they have consistent platforms. It will help you build your game offensively and defensively if they come up in play.

More specifically with Falcon, he is great for his aerial game, so punishing players on platforms with Up Airs and Fairs is nearly always a good shout.

Thanks, that's good advice. If it's not broken don't fix it I guess. I'll keep it in mind.

Thank you very much. I'll get to practicing right away

Quite honestly, with that stage list, I would say practicing on FD a lot would help, given that thanks to having 3! Omegas as counterpicks, if an opponent wants FD, they will get FD.

Other than that, Falcon has good air game, so plat heavy stages might help

Question: Are the different omega stages treated as separate stages in the banning process? This tournament sounds... questionable.

I'd honestly suggest Lylat and BF are the best stages in this list for Falcon because of the platform layout. Boxing Ring is your best Omega due to wall jumping.

I'm also going to a tournament which is taking Omega stages as a viable stage choice, I feel like it's just going to end all omega stages, which is totally unfair really, I'll just have to find out how it's being implemented.

Before now I assumed there could be an Omega stage pick as an aesthetic replacement for FD (even though the walls on some make a huge difference), but that would be it's only use.

I wouldn't really know if it's sketchy. Are you talking about every other omega stage? This is what was also in the stage listing:

"Banned: Everything else. YOU CANNOT PLAY ON ANY OTHER STAGE, unless agreed upon by both players/teams."

Basically I'm curious as to if you were to ban Final Destination would it be legal to pick Omega Norfair at this tournament.

If yes; don't take it too seriously.

Flat stages are good for falcon if you are reliant on grab setups, while platforms are better for him in the neutral because of his amazing up air. It is dependent on matchups though.

Always strike fd against rosalina. Always.

Wow that's strange. Those that have replied before you were replying in context of smash 4. That's reaaaIly strange. I specifically remember going to the 3DS/Wii U section to post this. Is there no way to move the thread entirely..? (I probably sound real dumb asking that)
