First off, I'm a Melee main. Eff Brawl in the butt.

Anyway, besides perfecting my sloppy moonwalking, wavedashing, l-cancelling, short hops and JC grabs, what tips do you have that'll get my Falcon in tip-top shape. The video below was a friendly which is why it isn't all that great, plus, we weren't at our best that day. No johns, though. >_> I'm usually a little sharper, but whatever. There are also other vids of my Falcon, as well as my Sheik and G&W on my youtube channel.

Sorry for the crappy sound and video quality:

yeh well, u wavedash n stuff, but thats all, u should do MUCH less the knee and grab a little less too, cause even being on captain falcon, with is the fastest player, ur still too slow.

>_< Ouch, lol. Yeah, I do grab too much. That's only because I don't know how to properly approach with Falcon. It's usually knee, grab, or a dair. I need to use more nairs. I am kinda slow, aren't I? =( Thanks for the advice, though..

Alright so Dogy gave you alot of advice :p The only things I can add to that is when you uthrow onto a platform dont just jump up and try to knee them you can SH uair and follow them off the platform. Dont be afraid to use the capn's speed Dthrow tech chase repeat. If your gonna approach with the dair as well try and land so you end up behind your opponent. and they can't shield grab you. also dogy said at around 70 dthrow to knee, well im sure around 50 you can land uthrow to knee. as well. Also as dogy said watching other falcons closely in vids. will probably be the best thing for you. try to watch matchs instead of just combo videos to get an actual idea of how you should be doing.

also something i just thought of when your chasing the tech after a throw you can use raptor boost as well as your dair to set up for that knee.

I'm not a falcon player, but i do know some basic stuff to help you out.
(im kinda watching the vid in order and posting)

1) yeah you block too much.
Especially with falcon, the last thing you wanna do is block. If you see an aerial coming, just run away. You're fast enough to get away.

2) If you're going to u.throw reg. weights (ganon), follow up u.airs instead of a knee.
Yes the knee will hit (like you did), but that's all you can really get out of it. If you u.air, you can get multi u.airs and maybe tack a knee on at the end.

3) Dont prematurely spotdodge. XD
Like #1, if you want to avoid something, run. You're ****ing captain falcon, that's what you do. If you see something and you just KNOW you cant make it away (or you get too scared), THEN you block, spotdodge, etc.

I see you've rolled out of your shield a few times, but im giving you the benefit of the doubt by saying "You were trying to wavedash OoS, but got jacked by shieldstun"

4) When you start getting your opponent up to 70%, if you grab them, start looking for d.throw to knee (for everybody that's not a FFer, mind you). U.throw will send them too far away to follow up at this point.

Speaking of throwing, im assuming you threw ganon back onto the stage by accident. If you didnt, then just throw him off and edgeguard him next time. XD

5) Needs more nair!! MORE NAIR!
Nair is sooo critical to falcon's game. It's your longest reaching aerial (it's your longest reaching attack in genera), and has a fast recovery, even when not l cancelled, and it's just flat out safe, even if done mediocrely. Now if you just have retardedly bad spacing, then it becomes a problem, but it's SO SAFE (when combined with you running), that you can have average spacing and get away with it.

6) (watches more, sees more of the stuff i said)

7) (Watches end)
... well atleast you can reverse falcon punch right. XD

___

Im going to say this, and sound like an ***, but finish reading what i say before you blast me, play.

Watching that falcon hurt. It was so bad. But i dont mean bad as in "Oh my god you are the most garbage person ever", but bad as in i dont think you really understand what you should be doing. I see nothing but text book scrub play, standing around, rolling out of every situation, and relying on smashes.

But with all that said, i did see how you started to use more aerials (a lil more nair, specifically) at the end. Which shows some signs of hope.

And contrary to what every body else has said so far, I actually think it's a GOOD thing that you grabbed alot. That's what falcon is SUPPOSED TO DO (as long as it works),
The problem is it just looks bad because you would just run up and grab, which would often miss because you dont move around enough. By not moving to begin with, when you DO run at somebody, you're telegraphing that you're going to do SOMETHING, whether it's an attack or grab or something.
The other problem is purely the throw selection. You've GOT to start d.throwing at higher %s if you want that knee. The one time you got it to hit at like 115%, it shouldnt have had any chance in hell of hitting. >.>

But like i said, you do look like you got some hope, you just need to be steered in the right direction.

____
In my opinion, i think you really need to sit down and watch a few vids of some really good captain falcons, and just see what they do. Granted, it's different for them because of what they have to contend with vs what you have to contend with (no offense to your friend, that's just how it goes friend vs friend playing smash).

But by watching the videos, you'll see why n.air is so important; you'll see what benefits you get from running instead of rolling; you'll see what happens you when you do specific throws. It might not make sense when you watch the first vid (especially if it's complete ****, it'll will just look awesome), but as you try to do the stuff yourself, you'll understand why all of it works.

And if worse comes to worse, you can just come back and ask, im sure SOMEBODY knowledgeable will pop back up and give you some advice (hell, ill probably come myeslf).

__

Hope this helps, and sorry for sounding like an ***. Like i said, i really dont mean it, but im not gunna trying to sugarcoat anything.

Thanks everybody, especially DogySamich. Don't worry, I took no offense by it.

The reason I started nairing more towards the end is because I realized I wasn't doing it enough. And yeah, I usually use more uairs, I guess since we were recording I wanted to show off but doing a bunch of knees and crappy grab combos. >_> Don't worry, I've realized that uthrow > fsmash... doesn't really work. As for the movement thing, call it a john if you want, but part of the reason why is because the rubber on the control stick come off and it makes DDing kinda hard to do. But the reason why is just because I suck. =( Lol.

I play better when I'm not recording (I hope). Plus, I don't have the opportunity to play Melee whenever I want like I used to, so I got rusty. JOHNS GALORE!

Anyway, any of you happen to watch any of my other Falcon matches... I think my performance in some of those were a little better, I think in one video you can see me practicing moonwalking midmatch though.. =/ Only reason I posted THIS video is because I thought I'd get bonus points for the RFFP... which I didn't. You people are hard to please. *goes and cries*
