Getting used to different lag on different TVs

When I play melee w/ my own setup, I can play very well; but my problem is that when I go to a friends house or to a tournament, I can't get into that "rhythm" that I have when playing on my own setup, making me screw up on tech and overall just not playing good. I'm assuming this is because each TV lags in it's own special way, making me have to adapt to it.
My question is; how does one get used to the different types of lag on different TVs? Is this something I just need to get good at through experience, or are there methods / tips that can be helpful for this?

Thanks

I kinda get what you mean, but that's mainly with HDTVs.

A lot of the times, (I think) it's a combination of the different setup and nerves, regardless of how you think you feel.

Find a set of moves or something you can do to "establish" your ability to handle the environment, like a mid-match handwarmer.
This'll help "pace" you and get you to better understand the setup you're dealing with as well as the environment.
Personally, I'll do a few SHFFL shines or waveland off of platforms to help me "remember" what all I'm dealing with as well as mentally confirm that I'm still in control of my character and I'm not letting nerves get to me.
If you really do feel that this is more of a lag issue, then work on shifting your focus away from visual cues; instead, use muscle memory to track where you are and what you're doing so you don't find yourself lost (which frequently happened to me in PM wifi).

It's not lag, it's getting used to different settings. Friends homes and tournament venues will give you different memory queues (occasion setting). Also, simply being watched can alter a person's performance. If the task is easy, social facilitation tends to make it easier for the person. If it's difficult, that psychological concept will make it worse. Just a theory

Tvs will usually be a hair faster than you expected or slightly slower, starting from the character select screen, so try and predict the lag. In-game, spend a minute warming up a bit with some OoS+WD and ledgehogs, then SWD, it should only take you 2 or 3 tries. Try a couple more times to do two in a row. Now you're 'calibrated' to that tv.

If you didn't SWD at least twice then get back to warming up and try the process again after a couple matches.
