He can try going to a place like Walmart or something. From a place like gamestop though? He can see if he can preorder today, but not sure if they will let him, since it depends on how many copies they were shipped.How feasible do you think this is?

I don't think i've ever pre-ordered a Smash game and I've always been able to get a copy at a midnight launch. I'd say your chances would be more slim if this was a console, a plug 'n play, or an amiibo.
