Getting the Ground Pounded bonus

This is only bonus that I'm missing. Every guide I read just says "Get KO'd by a damaging floor". Well I've KO'd myself on Brinstar's lava atleast a million and one times. I've even tried different techniques of getting KO'd on the lava. Is there some kind of trick to it? Please Help!

I'd avoid the lava and just go to Mute city.
