i never really noticed it before, cos i only recently started playing fox, but i just learned last week that fox cant seem to techroll out of falco's dthrow

i can do it with my other chars, mainly samus and cfalcon, but for some reason i cant with fox

is it just me or is it fox physics?

also made me realize how bombsoldier alwyas got those dthrow dmashes in his combo vid >.>

It is easy to get out of Falco's dthrow. During the throw, hold your R-button, and when you are actually released from the throw, flick the control stick down. You'll immediately do a dodge and Falco will miss his next throw, allowing you to shine him away from you. It's practically the best way to effortlessly get out of the chaingrab.

if i'm not mistaken, in version 1.0 of the game, falco's dthrow to dsmash was inescapable because the last laser of the dthrow would hit you causing you to not be able to tech, so they revised the game and made fox just stand out of it w/ a frame advantage over falco, so it's disadvantageous for falco to dthrow fox.

WOAH, i never knew any of this. i actually tech out of my friends dthrow all the time.. he plays falco. maybe u guys are talking about lower %'s?? because yea, falco can just dthrow u, and if u dont spotdodge, or roll away, he can jus regrab and dthrow to like 30% if im not mistaken

No matter how much percent you get, fox will never go into the tumbling animation after Falco's dthrow, so it is impossible for fox to tech out of Falco's dthrow. So, maybe you do tech out of the dthrow all the time, but not with fox.

u cant really tech out of it like normal, but at higher percents u bounce and then u can tech... but thats when dthrow > dsmash comes in to play :(

Just wait until you get shine spiked out of your own throw.

No wonder I kept getting downsmashed right after I get a falco downthrow (I kept trying to tech out of it). Thank you guys for this bit of useful knowledge.

Oh, on a different note, someone told me that you can tell what version of smash you have by looking on the disc, but I am not sure how, since I don't know what those random numbers and letters on the disc mean.

hold on, i'm getting my disc now, i know how to do it.

k: if you look on the data side, at the inner ring (right around the whole) find where it says usa (idk how this works for pal) and right before it it should say 0-0x

if x = 0 ==> 1.0
if x = 1 ==> 1.1
if x = 2 ==> 1.2

Cool, thanks a lot. I was confused on where to check because my game disc on the art side said dol-006, and I had no idea what that was, since to my knowledge, there are only versions 1.0 - 1.2. The inner ring on my disc says 0-00, so I guess I was lucky enough to get version 1.0 (I bought my copy on ebay a few months ago, even though I don't even have a cube or wii, lol).

Percentages have nothing to do with teching the d-throw.

And if you're worried about the autotech, you still have plenty of time to throw in a shine, sidestep, or put up your shield.
