License issues are understandable. However, something as simple allowing the circle pad to be compatible with smash feels like an act of deliberation. I mean, it really wouldn't hurt the sales of the new 3DS given that it offers so much more. The fact that it offers all the functionality of the circle pad in a smaller package is enough to sell the system, as most people like sleek and compact things even if they are virtually the same. Apple has been exploiting this type of marketing for years

Wow. You don't need to be such a fanboy about personal preference. But if it's any consolation, Sakurai said that the 3DS version is essentially a beta for the Wii U version. Take that as you will.

Also, more sells doesn't mean it's a superior game. Look at Call of Duty.
Proof? Oh wait, he nevef said that. =)

Checking is done both domestically and overseas, so for a game like Smash Bros., several hundred people are employed." Sakurai explained. "So, debugging alone becomes a huge project. So much so that one of the biggest reasons for the separate release dates for the 3DS and Wii U versions was so that we could shift the debugging periods."

How the hell does that mean the 3DS version is a 'beta'? I don't think your getting what hes saying.
On the contrary, I do.

If you read the article, it says that the game itself is almost like being employed for beta testing. Since players constantly find new information outside of development, that information will be taken into consideration, as well as developer feed back.

If you have ever beta tested a game before, you would know that it requires players to continuously push specific things to find exploits, and since it's almost impossible to do that for a game like smash (this one in particular), having a version available for the masses is the best way to do that. The 3DS version is a glorified beta test for the Wii U version, and while it's a game in it's own right, it extensively serves that purpose. (And perhaps the information found can be patched to the 3DS version via update).

I fully understand what he's saying. Question is do you?

Aww.. How cute how you think your actually right! I almost feel so sad for you because your so wrong I'm almost crying!
Almost. Can't wait till Wii U version comes out. I wonder how hard I'll laugh my *** off when we all know you were wrong and that the 3ds version sold alot better. Hope I don't break something =)
Selling better doesn't make it a better game, you forget the state the wii u is in right now.
Smash is going to at least boost those numbers.

What he saying is that it would be very hard for thwm to debug two games at the same time to make em come out at the same date. That's why 3DS is coming first, its being debugged first. Debugging is NOT easy.

Can you read? Did I say it would be better? No. It's gonna be equal.

And /I/ never said the Wii U version would sell better, so your original reply to me was a waste of both our times since it seems like you just wanted to gloat about 3DS figures like a make-shift nintendo marketer.

The Wii U version is going to be a console saver, the 3ds one is going to be sakurai using you guys as beta testers, at a fee.
I think you guys should knock this off. This is the 3ds thread and it's obviously a 3ds hype post. I think it should stay that way with no "wow Nintendo bad for no circle pad pro" or "3ds players are just beta testers" and most of all "Wii u will blow this out of the water and will be a thousand times better" stuff.

This, idk wth Terrazi is even doing in this thread. His 1st post does not even reply to the thread question. But some ppl are just, special I guess. This is a 3ds HYPE thread as you said, we don't need people like Terrazi here

Eh, I can wait. I waited 3 years to play Brawl. (Not by choice). Alas, I'm just a poor boy. A poor boy saving up for New 3DS so I won't have to deal with single-stick, too-weak-for-Ice-Climbers peasantry.
Yes its supposed to be ironic.

I don't have a Japanese 3DS. And I don't live in Japan. And I don't speak or read Japanese (learning how to though!).
So its the US version for me.
(even if i wanted the japanese version, i'd get the new nintendo 3ds and that instead)

Because the Smash 3DS and Smash Wii U are the same game, obviously the 3DS version is going to be some sort of 'beta test', purely because it's going to be released first, nothing else. Any changes found during this period would also be moved to the Wii U because they are changes for the better. However, this doesn't mean that the 3DS version is strictly 'beta test' material. It just happened to also work that way because it releases first. That's all. This article doesn't imply what you think it does.

What this article means is just that they can use the same team of debuggers for both games. Both versions are on different consoles, and so testing for both of them is going to be VASTLY different, and so they saw fit to prioritize a version to make it release earlier. It's an issue related to debugging, not a decision purposely made to make the 3DS act as a beta environment.

Again, the 3DS will act as a pseudo-beta test, but ONLY because it releases first. The article by itself implies nothing. If the Wii U was the version they decided to release first, then the Wii U version would be the one acting as a pseudo-beta environment for the 3DS version, but only as a consequence.

It's their money. They can do what they want. No one asked you your opinions on how they spend their money.
You're awfully defensive about something where all I really said was that I think it is silly. I didn't say people shouldn't do what they want.

Remember that humans have different opinions.
That's kind of why I said "to each their own" at the end.

Obviously some people are more frivolous, and that's fine. I'm not telling people what to do.

Because the Smash 3DS and Smash Wii U are the same game...
They're technically not the same game at all. They share is the roster & core mechanics. The modes, options and stages will shape the game differently, despite sharing some important parts.

I still get where you're coming from with the rest of the post. I just don't really view them as the same game, seeing as there's more different about them than there is the same.
