Update May 20: This **** is happening folks!
Hey guys, it's Techno, and I'm getting serious about Smash, so I'm probably going to start a weekly or bi-weekly mini-fest either at my place or somewhere in Anne Arundel County where smashers can come out and practice and play n' stuff. Please post here if you're interested in coming so we can work out dates and times.
Festage #2 TBA
Location: Techno's House
70 Old Earleigh Hts. Rd
Severna Park, MD 21146
I can give directions from whereever, it's easy to find right off of MD rt. 2
I'd like to get at least 4 setups in total. Vist is likely coming and can probably provide at least a cube for the other TV, but we still need 2 more! PM me or post it up if you can provide one.
More than 5-6 TVs will be difficult to fit in the space we have! I'd like everyone that attends to have a good amount of play time, because 1 match on 3 matches off is not very good for practice.
Elkridge/Wilkens Ave/UMBC peeps: I can give you a ride to my place when I get off work if you need one, PM me for details, my car seats 5 (me +4).
These are the Perks:
I'd like it if Get Serious fests weren't just everyone hanging out and playing friendlies, but then again that's half of smash, so I figure we'll probably do a 3-4 hour fest but dedicate an hour of it or so to serious practice (as opposed to just playing), and do things like critiquing and coming up with lists of things for specific players to improve on from watching a match, as well as a round-robin tournament (no entry fee), and I'd also like to set some time aside for doubles practice and do some timing and tech drills, but I know those can get old.
Suggestion Box:
Also, there is a Lil' Ceaser's by me, and for those of you that don't know Lil' Ceaser's charges $5 for a large pizza if you go pick it up, and this is probably the best deal for feeding hungry smashers of all time, so if you're interested in a pizza organize $5 to be assembled and I'll reserve one for you, otherwise I'll probably just ask for like two bucks for three slices or something, if I know ppl are interested. Fest is open to anyone who is interested but might be limited by the capacity of the location we're holding it at, which along with everything else is TBD and depends on who is interested.
Fest One Round-Robbin Results
Technomander - 4-7, didn't play EEvisu or DosV
Vistakazam (cube) 13-2 good ****
Tinbuffet - ??????? ?? ? ?? ? ? ?? 1-4 so far but I know he did better than that, that's just from playing me and Vist
Bowsertreebell (cube) 10-4, didn't fight Tin, also good ****, only player to beat Vist
Violent Leodude - did not show ups :/ but gets to keep his pokemon
EEkachu - also needs to write down his matches (need vs. Darryl, DosV, and Tin) 3-4
DosVenosaur 10-4
BeeDarryl - 2-5, need matches vs. DosV, Tin, EE, and J.T
War Hamster (J.T, right?) - 0-10, need matches vs. EE, Tin, Darryl
^ No johns though he took most people to the last stock from what I saw, just needs to DI those throws so he doesn't get combo'd!
Official points are in!
1. Vist
2. DosV
3. BowserTree
4. EEvisu
5. Tin
6. Techno
7. Darryl
7. War Hamster
9. Frozen (Squandered)
The top three were really close, Vist only beating DosV by three points and DosV taking Btree out by 4 points. Good stuff everyone
