So we have neo-conservative columnist, George Will wrote an article on how jeans are 'ruining' America. And just when you think he couldn't get any crazier, he spews this:

Denim is the infantile uniform of a nation in which entertainment frequently features childlike adults ("Seinfeld," "Two and a Half Men") and cartoons for adults ("King of the Hill"). Seventy-five percent of American "gamers" -- people who play video games -- are older than 18 and nevertheless are allowed to vote. In their undifferentiated dress, children and their childish parents become undifferentiated audiences for juvenilized movies

Translation: I'm a grumpy old man who thinks the younger generation are foolish twits and that teh 50s rocked.

Yes my friends, he said that we shouldn't be voting. I wonder if there is ANYBODY who likes/respect gamers. I mean, sheesh. And conservatives sure have drinking that crazy juice lately.

That is actually pretty funny. I especially love that he berates all of america for dressing the same, then goes on to suggest that everyone should dress only like two specific actors (Fred Astaire and Grace Kelly), depending on gender.

Please distinguish from the older generation and conservatives. I am conservative, but all this is bull**** and I agree he is senile, but don't lump us all in the same group.

I think it's the combination of the two (dusty old + conservative) that's the real problem here.

Jesus. I wear jeans, play video games, and enjoy animated programming. It's a miracle I even remember how to chew my food!

I like how he attempts to paint adults who watch cartoons like King of The Hill as these immature people, equatable to children, and yet he calls King of The Hill a cartoon for adults. Which, in itself, implies that it employs a different kind of humor than the kind that appeals to kids.

Self-defeating bull****.

No that's obviously the real problem. But alot of people think old generation = conservatism and therefore conservatives = ridiculous views like this

No this is just one nutjob.

Sometimes, these things need a little push before they get set in the right direction.

It's been like this since people started to go against social norms. We'll be like this one day.

20s: You trashy *****! Cover your ankles!
50s: This newfangled video box!
80s: Back in my day kids used to play outside, not play on their game machines!
90s: The interwebz you say?

and it goes on and on. For some reason, adults don't like technology.

That made me lol.

Too true. I tried to upgrade my father's alarm clock/radio for Father's Day last year..... he took one look at all the buttons (a.k.a. the fact that there were more than four of them.... and a dial, ohnoes!) and said it was too complicated.

He's never used it even though his old one is a huge piece and barely works anymore.
