Genesis 3: Day 1 ReCapp(s)

Day 1 has concluded at Genesis 3 and boy what a day it was! Already there have been epic crew battles for Melee and Smash 4, The Melee Games, and Smash 64 doubles. Need a quick way to catch up before day two? Then check out the recap!

The Melee Games

The finals for The Melee games waged on and some epic matches took place. UCI had some impressive matches with Sherigami showing some impressive Sheik play, chaingrabbing to take down many stocks. Squid also showed strong performances finishing out important matches. While Janet managed to tak some stocks against them with a Zelda of all things, UCI managed to win and will compete in finals against...

Georgia Tech! Stony Brook University and York University while putting up a valiant battle could not take down this solid team. Which will win The Melee Games? We cannot know until tomorrow.

Smash Draft 2016
Earlier this week we broke down all the teams competing and had readers vote on which teams would win. It turns out our readers made great predictions as with a little over 45% of votes for Team Hungrybox, they took home the top prize!

Along the way Team Hungrybox took out Team Westballz and Team Ken before coming up against Team SFAT. Team SFAT took down Team HugS and Team PewPewU as well but just could quite down the might of two "gods" on the same team.

Smash 4 Crew Battles

We also previewed the Smash 4 crew battles that would be taking place at Genesis 3 and some of their performances were incredible. Mexico had one of the most impressive runs. Despite not winning the event taking down Florida and seeing their players keep it close to the best Japan has to offer was incredible. S

Unfortunately not all teams could win. MDVA and Southwest lost early on and Texas, Midwest, NorCal, and Florida soon joined them. In the end Japan took on SoCal in a tense match where Japan showed why they are such a huge threat at events taking home the gold.

Smash 64 Doubles

In the world of Smash 4 doubles there were great matches. The all Japan team of Wangera and Wario entered alongside Isai / Rith and JaimeHR / SuPeRbOoMfAn. However the first two teams didn't make grand finals, the combination of tacos and The Z managed to beat them both but could not overcome JaimeHR and SuPeRbOoMfAn took home the win.

At least we know ZeRo is better then Ranai, unless Ranai is planning on going super saiyan.
One game on ZeRo's counterpick on probably Villager's least effective stage afaik does not constitute ZeRo's superiority over Ranai. Ranai has shown adaptation when he was down to his final stock, he could very well take it over ZeRo in the finals.

ranai and Komirikiri walked up to ZeRo after the match and told him he was the best sm4sh player... Plus, they had a limited stage list, only 4 stages...
