This is a social thread for the Mega Man fans out there, including myself of course (if my username didn't already give it away).

Here you can talk about all things Mega Man related, whether it be the Classic series, X, Zero, Legends, whatever it may be. Just keep it clean!

(by the way, I apologize if there already is a thread for this, I didn't see one)

---------------

So to start things off, what's your favorite Mega Man game? Mine is probably 5. It's underrated and has some great music. Plus I think the physics were just somehow perfected in that game compared to the others.

All time favorite for me would be MMX1, although X isn't even my favorite series.

And yeah, 5 is definitely underrated. It's not my favorite of Classic, but it's still really good though.

Classic 2/3, Legends 2, BN2, and MMZ3 were my faves for each of the other early series.

Never got the chance to try the Battle Networks, hopefully I can get into them soon. Would also have played the Legends games, but they're so expensive >_<

X1 is a great choice. Out of the X series I might have to say X4 is my favorite. Zero's fun to use in that game.

I actually kind of prefer X2 as my favourite Mega Man X game. I'm not sure what it is, but it feels like a tighter improvement on X, and while X3 was good too, it felt slightly different. X4 on just wasn't quite the same, despite X4 and X5 being good.

Oh, also, anybody else remember that Mega Man Cartoon?

I love X2 as well. Air dash upgrades and double charge shot were really awesome for a sequel. The only things that make me rank it slightly lower were better music in X1, better level design in X1, X1 stages alter after you beat some bosses, and less stress. Last one is because X2, X3, X5, and X6 brought in things that made players play a bit differently. X2 and X3 had minibosses that switched between stages (and X3 required certain weapons to "kill" them). It made me switch up the orders of stages sometimes.

X5 had a sort of time limit while X6 had reploids that could die midstage :/

And I used to wake up early in the mornings to watch that cartoon. Had good memories of it. Rose tinted ones at that.

BN games were loads of fun. I'm hoping they get on the GBA VC on Wii U or some 3DS collection. The Legends games were really fun for me. It didn't age well to some people, but it had some great ideas at the time.

I haven't played nearly as much Mega Man as I would like. I've only ever played One of the Battle Network games a long time ago (was actually my first Mega Man), Mega Man 1-6, X1 and 64 (which is the same as Legends, I think).

Anyway, I really dig X1. IMO Mega Man 5 and 6 are horribly underrated.

Also, I remember when I was playing through the Mega Man Zero games and being genuinely surprised when someone told me "yeah, Harpuia's suppose to be a guy".

There has to be that scenario with everything it seems. Harpuia doesn't even look like a guy

I'll be sure to check out, jonesing for a good action/platformer
Another good one I'd reccomend is Mega Man Revolution, it allows you to play as either Mega Man with the Super Arm from MMV (Game Boy) or Bass with his double-jump/dash from MM&B.

My favorite Mega Man series are the Zero and ZX games. Those got it perfect for me, gameplay wise. I'm not sure which of the six would be my favorite, I need to replay them. I have a feeling that ZX would be near the top, and ZXA would be near the bottom, based off of what I do remember.

Prometheus and Pandora are probably my favorite bosses throughout the MM series.

For the classic series, I'd probably put 9 as my favorite, and X1 as my favorite from the X series. I haven't played the Legends games or the Battle Network games.

I never really got into ZX, or the Battle Network games. I admit to not playing much at all of Legends either. Huh...I've got more games in it to catch up on than I think, lol.

I really only got into the main series, X, Zero, ZX and that's about it. I played the first Battle Network, but nothing else. Never played Legends. Never played the Battle Network successors, idk. I got a lot to play as well!

People tend to not like it as much as Zero from what I've seen. I'm not sure why(I'm pretty sure that it being easier is one reason though), it's been so many years since I last played it, so I don't remember much.

I just know that I like how it doesn't punish you for increasing your health or getting sub tanks like Zero, and I like the multiple Mega Man forms you can switch between at any time.

Zero > ZX for me based on story for sure. I'd have to replay the ZX games to compare which had better level design though. My only problems with the Zero and ZX games were how much better melee attacks were than projectiles. ZXA started fixing that though iirc. It's not a huge problem, but it's something that stood out. ZX series were fun to replay because of all the forms.

Everyone here should give Legends and BN a chance. BN1-3's story was great for an MM and 4-6 were the games where the battle system shined. I recommend downloading maps somewhere on the web since the areas are awful, especially if you're marathoning them.

I'll post my collection later today. Regretfully I've sold quite a bit of my games (MM3, MMX6, some BNs, etc), but I've bought some of them again.

There's not much to my collection. I have the Mega Man Anniversary Collection(PS2), the Mega Man X Collection(GCN), Mega Man Zero Collection, the two ZX games, and 9 & 10 on my Wii.

Needless to say, to got into the series pretty late. I'd like to try Legends and the BN games, but don't want to hunt them down right now, hopefully the BN games will show up on the GBA VC.

This thread reminded me that I still need to finish the Zero series. I left off near the end of Zero 3, and just now finished it. That last stage was annoying, the final boss was cool, it's just a shame that any game over I got made me have to play through the boring stage and do the boss refights again. :/

Imagine how I feel on my Perfect Score playthrough :( Managed to beat every stage prior with a 100, but this one was too hard for me.

Also, here are some low quality pics of my current games.

And of course there are some games that I only own digitally. I don't think I'll go out of my way to collect anymore past games at this point. Maybe just the BN games to play them on my DSLite.

Nice collection. No Maverick Hunter X? Cool that you have the original cartridge for MMX though

I only have it digitally, so no physical copy. The game was fun, but I like the original better, especially the controls.

I love Powered Up though. I'd spend hours making my own custom stages.

Yeah original X is easily better. Powered up is good too, didn't get to play it until recently when my friend bought

The original X1 is better, but I'd say Maverick Hunter still warrants at least one playthrough. It's rather impressive to see how well they turned it into a 2.5 game that stays very very faithful to the original, as well as all of the awesome extra story elements. Only only complaint was that Zero wasn't a playable character unlike Vile.

Powered Up was great, but for every positive I find there's a negative. Ex. Can't shoot through walls, the unlockable slide ability is not very useful, extra characters bar Protoman suck to play as, Challenge Mode is pointless now that Protoman is free DLC, Old Style Mode should have been a port of the original plus the screen didn't need to be altered.

Too bad they were only released on the PSP, I would have loved to have seen Capcom continue to remake the original games. In particular, X2-X6, since the story of the X series is something that's always bothered me and this looked like it would have correct it. Please port these games to the 3DS Capcom where they'll actually sell.

I finished Zero 4.

I like how the Cyber Elf worked in that game, and how the game doesn't hate me for getting health upgrades. I didn't like how you got the different chips for Zero, it got a little grindy, so I ignored most outside of a few.

I'd like to go for a good rank in these games one day, but not now. I'm not that great at Mega Man games, so it would probably take me a long time to get through all four with an A or S.

I'm glad that it looks like the Battle Network games will be coming to the Wii U, I want to try those.
