GC controller problems

I opened my GC controller (which I have done before to change buttons) because I had stick drift. When putting it back together, and finished, I noticed 2 things. 1: the R button wasn’t pressing down all the way. 2: the buttons were more stiff. So I opened it again, fixed the R button, and when I tried it, it didn’t register. I did the controller restart on the character select screen and it worked again. However my R button is now weird, and you can feel the spring vibrate and it just doesn’t feel right. It used to happen with my L button, but now my L button is fine. Also, my buttons still feel stiff making it harder to short hop.
Any advice?
