So I took my Switch with Gamecube controllers and we played Smash at a Christmas Eve party. After people left, I got on to play and I logged into Diablo 3: Eternal Edition and I noticed that their was controller slots for 4 players. I grabbed a GameCube controller and it allowed me to setup a character and play. Gamecube Controllers work with other games. Has anyone noticed this with any of the other multiplayer games on Switch? This wasn't the case with the Wii U were Gamecube controllers only worked with Smash.

They probably work with any game that is compatible with the pro controller. As long as you don't need the L button, you're good to go.

a gamecube controller is effectively a pro controller though you cant go to the home with it. you can use the gamecube controller in the nes game app that you get when you buy online.

Honestly knew a long time ago. I believe some switch update a long time ago has added this function and people found this out once they tested it with their adapters. This was well over a year ago and the first game I've played using the GC controller was Super Mario Odyssey.
