Gamecube Controller Stick issues

I recently broke my new smash bros white controller's stick box and then replaced it with a type 3 stick box from a classic controller which is exactly the same type of box that was there before. The problem is that up and down do not work, but left makes the cursor go down and left while right makes the cursor go up and right. even if the stick is in the upwards left position it will still go down and left also if the stick is down and to the right it will still go right and up. Since i replaced the stick box, what else could be wrong and how could i fix it?

I'm not an expert in controller repairs, but it sounds like your stick box isn't in the correct orientation. All of your inputs are off by 90°, so rotating the stick box a quarter-rotation clockwise should work. I should probably get Kadano Kadano to confirm that before you do anything, though; he makes money off of modifying controllers.

That sounds like you've either done something wrong in a way that I can't even imagine (you'd need to send me a picture of the stickbox on the PCB), or your controller's electronics are faulty. In the latter case, try to return it maybe.

I think he likely killed any warranty, lol :)

Hmmmm when my controller broke could it have damaged the black things that hook into the stick box in anyway to not read input right? I thought maybe it was a rotational problem but when i opened my other working controller they looked the same

You mean the potentiometers? Yeah, that's possible. You could take them from dead controllers (or third-party stickbox replacements even) and solder them in.
