I was not excited at all about Smash 4 coming out, until I learned that Megaman ....sorry...correction...8-bit Megaman(HELLZ YEAH!), was going to be in it. Now I must buy a Wii U and have that damn game. Anyways, Would someone please tell me , or post the different controller options for the Wii U on here. I know game cube controllers are not compatible, but does anyone know if they will release a better controller for Smashing? I just hate the damn rectangular POS.

No gamecube controller (can't use the same controller through all the generations, especially since they aren't made anymore either)

You'll have to buy a wii u controller or use the classic controller.

There is a Gamecube to Wii U third party converter. Dunno how good it is though.
I'm reading good things about it. That's kind of cool.

Failing that, there's the Pro Controller which likely be usable. I already have one so I'll probably slide that way.

The Pro controller looks nice, but it bothers me that it's wireless.

Oh well, we'll see
It's pretty neat, I could definitely see myself playing Smash with it.

Technically yes but it charges via USB cable so you could always just have it constantly plugged in to the front of the Wii U.

It's not the battery aspect, it's the fact that it creates a 2ms-4ms delay and that it wouldn't be viable in tournaments where 40+ controllers are being used at once, all interfering with each other

There's a reason wiimotes are banned at Brawl tournaments

If you're like me and you dislike the controller layout for the Wii U Pro Controller you can try this,

Holding this beauty in my hands right now, and easily seeing how it can work well with Smash.(If ignoring the wireless aspect of it)
Even challenges the GCC in terms of ergonomics.

Classic Controller Pro.

Basic Custom Controls:
x & a = Jump
y = Special
b = Standard Attacks
L & R = Grab
ZL & ZR = Shield

Easier to use and hold than the WIi U Pro Controller and easier to press the buttons with than the Gamecube Controller. Lighter than both too and evenseems to respond more quickly for me no matter where I go to use it.

I've been long since prepared for Smash 4 and haven't even thought about going back to a Gamecube controller since I bought this baby a year ago. Not even in P:M. ¦3

Who needs old Gamecube controllers anymore?

2-4 ms back and forth lag is not noticeable and most of the time it won't lag at all, it is less than 1/5th of a frame! The game goes at 60 fps and with good coding it probably updates around every frame or every half a frame, anymore than that would be wasting processing resources which means that the game will probably update around every 8-20 ms. 2-4 ms should not even lag.

Edit: PS: I have seen advertising of wireless controllers than have sub 0.1 ms lag, I don't know if any of that is true but I would think there would be less lag.

Thats sick! Thanks man. It's either gonna be that, or the wireless gamecube adapter. Thanks again.
Same goes for me. I can't play Smash with anything but the Gamecube controller. I've tried. That Nyko pad looks awesome. I'm not a fan of the Wii U Classic controller button layout. Its awkward.

I would think using the pro controller that it would be a little more difficult using the right stick for a down air while using the left stick for proper spacing than on the gamecube controller. I haven't used a pro controller, so I can't say much. That Nyko looks pretty sweet, but I've always been weary of 3rd party controllers, as most of the ones I've used have broken fairly quickly.

Its gotta be a gamecube controller or nothing for me...If someone knows any details on how good/bad the adapters are that would really help me out

here's hoping you are the first of many to say this. in time,people must move on, because Ninty isn't going to shoehorn a single controller from 2 generations ago for one game.

the private event M2K went to at E3 had demos using these controllers, so I wonder what his feedback on them is.
