I want to mod some gamecube controllers for asthetic purposes and i was wondering if first party internals can fit in third party shells and if so which ones would work the best.

I mean maybe. But you'd have to get one that's 1:1 to the Gamecube controller. PowerA may make the closest ones right now. Maybe a Hori Battle Pad, but I doubt either of those are totally 1:1 even since they have the added buttons of a Switch Pro Controller.

I'm pretty sure all the newer controllers have different membranes for the buttons, and the PowerA controllers are actually smaller than the original, so I think you're outta luck

there is a youtube video of someone trying this. The outcome to save you some time was that the top could we swapped with the knock off 3rd party but that the fit still wasn't quite right. Better off just repainting your own. I did it recently and it came out pretty good for a first try.
