I went to my local Game Stop today and asked the manager if she knew if they were gonna have a Brawl demo disk and she told me that they're expecting Brawl demo disks which will be given to those who reserve Brawl...but she also told me that it could be soon or closer to release

Doubtful.

Gamestop no longer gives things away at the time you preorder a game, at least, they haven't in a long while from what I know. Too easy for someone to preorder, get the swag, then cancel the preorder later and leave someone who actually -wanted- the game without the doodad.

This is why they give you the preorder bonuses at pickup, when the game is out. And giving you a demo of the game at the time you pick up the full game is rediculous.

Reminds me of what happened to my brother which that might have happened. He reserved/pre-ordered whatever Gears of War so he could get a GOW faceplate. When it came out they were out of stock.. He made a rain check so he could get the faceplate when more come in.. Whats todays date and when did GOW come out?

Wait.. come to think of it they can't get the faceplate unless they bought the game.. nvm.

Sounds awesome anyway, that would be cool. Maybe you have to actually pay them the full price of the game at the time or something like that. I don't know how those work since I never reserved for pre-ordered before.

Sounds interesting.

I hope this is true, and a demo does come out.

I would hardly have my hopes up all that high though. These kind of things often don't happen, IMO.

i hope it's true also....but to say something like that would mean she knows something we don't

Maybe.
But you have to remember, these kind of shops and retailers are know to stretch and bend the truth, or be misinformed. A lot of them take rumours as truth themselves. I mean, I know many shops that had Brawls release date (before we knew the yank one) as like, early november and such?

I think she may have heard a rumour of a demo, and as these shops go, taken it as truth, or using it as a gimick to get ya'll to reserve the game.

But there's no saying I'm correct here.

Stop lying! Why would they give a demo to people who are already buying the game?

They'd put it in with Mario Galaxy if anything, so some people who didn't know very much about Brawl would pick it up.

Pretty good gimmick if so.

Say you get a demo disc so people will want to reserve the game.. *******s..

Not that I'll go out and do it, too lazy and stuff.

you will get a demo disk, when reserved by brawl?,thats like having 2 copies, which is sometimes good, but heres why i shouldnt :
1.i dont order from societys like gamestop
2.i am in bahrain(middle east)
3.i use a po box,why wait for the demo just because i already bought the game,if the demo is in retail,i would rush and buy the thing....20$ sounds like a resonable demo disk price

I don't believe you. I'll go to Gamestop myself and ask them if they're doing this. It's just that there have been troll threads where they lie just to joke around and some people including myself have been getting tired of it.

I'd like to stay hopeful but I'm not sure what to believe. I trust Takeshi so I'll wait for his confirmation from Gamestop.

I preordered my copy at the local Gamestop here in Keene, even paid it in full, and the lady behind the counter told me nothing about any demo disk being available for those who preorder the game.

I'd count this as false.

I went to Gamestop and asked them and they said they're not sure if they're going to get a playable demo. It was a good thing I didn't believe you. Oh, and thanks everyone else that went to Gamestop to back up the claim.

Well...he wasn't saying it was definitely for sure they were going to get a demo, Takeshi, he said one of the clerks/manager/whoever said they were. It wasn't like this: "LULZ MAH GAMSTAWP MANGR SIAD DOS WHO PRE-ORDER DA GME GT TEH DEMO DISK!!11!!1111" as a fact, he said he wasn't too sure about it either, so you didn't really have to be such an *** about it.

It's clear the TC wasn't here to troll like those other guys.

That's a bad assumption about me. If I was acting like a jerk, I would've flamed him. I was trying to be sure. Besides, I mentioned all the troll threads that keep popping up. Of course I'm going to be skeptical. Get your facts straight next time.

It's basicaly falce, because the guy I talked to said that if they were to get any type of demo it would be through a download. The reason for this is because Gamestop always downlads the demos for the Wii, they don't get discs sent to them.

I've never seen a Wii kiosk with a demo disc in it. Just an actual Wii game.

AHEM! I just got back from Gamestop. I was there for two reasons: 1, to find out if this rumor was true, and to get the Yggdra Union game for my DS.(Yay for good old GBA games!)

The guy at the desk told me that there would be a demo disk coming in within the month, but it had nothing to do with reserving it, as far as he knew.

I have no other way of finding out if this is true, but that's what I was told.

I doubt that this is true, but I DID reserve Brawl at GameStop. We'll just have to wait and see!

I remember the Melee 'demo'. It was just a video on the demo discs at Gamestop, and it just showed the SSBM intro.

I doubt they'll get anything playable, but they COULD get some new video footage. *shrugs*

Yes, because there is nothing better then playing a terrible version of a game before playing the actual game you payed for, in order to destroy the fun you have the first time you played it.

well ppl saying its false but who knows it might b true and id rather just wait for the real game...the demo is probably going to be extremely boring like:
Playable Characters: Mario Link Pikachu Kirby
Items: Banana Peel, Bumper, and cracker launcher
Stage: Battlefield
unless it has AT LEAST 5 new characters with diddy kong and pokemon trainer im not getting it

Wow, I wont say much, but i haven't heard anything of that yet. Yea yea, I work at Game Crazy but,
1) I talked to the Nintendo Rep 2 days ago and asked about Brawl demos, spiff's, anything and she said no. 2)I am good friends with the GameStop manager and he hasn't said anything to me either.

Note: other GameStop's have a history or "pleasing" their customers just to go back and say "oops TLFU" I had this happen to me first hand several times before the Game Crazy opened in our neck of the woods.

I love both stores, but if one gets something chances are the other store gets the same thing...most of the time lol.

That actually makes sense. I would expect a Brawl demo to be availible SOMEWHERE soon. If not in Gamestop, at an Expo. It comes out in three months and NOBODY has played it. Kind of odd if they let it not be tested for much longer.

A game company could not do this for two reasons:

1) 99% of the people who already got their game wouldn't get it, and a company can't rely on people just "Coming in to claim theirs saying they preordered it"

2) Most of the stuff you get for preordering games get shipped with the actual game. I dunno about you, but I don't plan on playing a Brawl demo the night the actual game comes out.

I wouldn't care which characters/items/levels it has as long as I can test the general physics of it.

I doubt that. If they were to have a demo, you would be able to download it off the Wii Shop Channel, and I'll be one of the first to get it, no matter how long it takes to download.... who am I kidding, I can't even connect to the interne with my Wii. (sob)

The only thing I expect is Nintendo to release a exclusive Brawl trailer or clips on the Wii just like MP3 did.

I don't even expect that. Metroid Prime 3 never had a daily updating site.
So.
It doesn't mean Nintendo won't have a weekly video release starting November counting down till the release of Brawl.. and on the final day.. December 3rd, the Brawl intro video is finally shown.
