Hi there, I really disappeared from this place. The reason was not because I got a job though, it was....

Maplestory. I almost lost myself in it, but I pulled myself out of it before it was too late.

Coming from a line of mmo addiction (880 days playtime on Final Fantasy XI over the course of 3 years), I should've never picked it up. But I did. I also got lv70 Dual Blade, and realized the game is complete crap.

Now, before you read this, you must know I am biased. I am against the mmo format of gaming, because it is meant to do two things: Drain your wallet and your life. You can't pause whenever you want, and you end up making plans for the game. Though Maplestory is a casual game, it still did these, and quite effectively I might add. So this review might be a bit sketchy compared to my others, and Majora's Mask will shortly follow to finish up that Zelda review set.

Since this is an mmo, the review will be a bit different. First, I'm not using pictures, but that's just because I don't want to see it anymore. Second, I can't really grade it on what I grade another game.

Sound: X/10: It doesn't matter. If I'm going to play an mmo, I'll play playlist.com. I've never played a mmo for music, ever. So I can't say much there.

Controls: x/10: Again, you can format them however you want, so....

Storyline x/10: Lol.

Alright, so what can I grade this on?

Pros:

- Great Graphics

I love the 2D side scrolling graphics. I absolutely adore it actually. It's simplistic yet enjoyable, one of the few amazing things about this game.

- Jobs

The Thief/Ninja line of jobs are actually good, quite balanced classes, again, this game has great potential. I really loved all the classes and hated none, so that was a big plus for me.

Cons:

- Too much "Luk"

Everything was chance. Scrolls to enhance stats on armor meant there's a chance you may waste all your mesoes(money) on a shot at good armor. If you fail and your under lv120, you have to buy nx to sell to make money to try again. Which brings me to the next flaw...

- Too much wallet draining

I spent 70 dollars over the course of 2 months.

Lets do the math:

I played FFXI @ a 17/month fee...thats 202 dollars a year. I spent almost half that in TWO MONTHS. Ridiculous. They casually drain the money right from you!

- The Community

It's Atrocious. I'd rather down a bottle of formaldehyde than ever see 90% of those people again. Don't believe me? Try MS, it's free after all!

- The Concept of "Endgame"

All you do is grind, do the same old quests, grind. There is no endgame. Once your 200, or 120 really, your almost done/done. Pointless.

Really, what set me off was losing 30 dollars worth of mesoes in scrolls that failed, and not getting Metroid: Other M until Octoberish(maybe sooner) because of nx cards. It's a life/money drainer.

I'm against mmoes because they drain life, so it's quite biased, but this game gets two ratings:

MMO Rating: 6/10. Just Bland.
Game Rating 2/10. Horrible.

My Majora's Mask review will be up by Thursday or so, and as the other reviews it will be much more precise! This is more of a rant anyways, lol.
