Game of the Year winner: Super Mario Galaxy

People here tend to believe Nintendo gets the short end of the stick when it comes to reviews. But this year, in Nintendo's mascot has recieved the ultimate honor!

Super Mario Galaxy is the 2007 GOTY, at least from Gamespot, which is one of the most respected sources.

In a year that saw Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Call of Duty 4, God of War 2, Super Paper Mario, and Rock Band, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, Bioshock, Ratchet and Clank: Tools for Destruction, and Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, among many others, Super Mario Galaxy has been named GOTY.

This may have been the greatest year in gaming history in terms of the released titles. I dont know if SMG is actually better than some of the other titles (points to Halo 3), but it certainly is just as good, and probably the most inovative.

I'm kind of amazed that you actually listed TWO Ratchet & Clank games in your list of "great games."

Ratchet & Clank is pretty much a stagnant pool of a series that hasn't seen any real originality since the very first release in the series. And a Pokemon game will never get GotY unless some future game features a complete overhaul that doesn't ruin the series.

SMG is considerably better than Halo 3, also.

And even though Mass Effect doesn't deliver on everything Bioware promised. It deserves recognition too. Certainly more than Halo 3.

I was surprised but then again I didn't get to play SMG and got to play just about anything else.. If it was on the 360 hehe.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption not on your list? Congratz to Shigeru Miyamoto(Legend) and Mario(Legend) taking 2007 is pretty big.....now Masahiro will take 2008...Nintendo is on top of things.

You should list all the different GOTY winners.. I think X-Play's one was Bioshock.

Bioshock was the best purchase of the year for me. Hands down a great title with a compelling story, the best AI I've seen since Farcry, and just an awesome engine.

Bioshock is ok for me, b/c I watched gunslinger girl a week before I got Bioshock. If you have saw Gunslinger Girl, then you know what I am talking about. Bioshock is cute. Btw....X-play and VGA are jokes, they are all tools.
