So, some people have brought up the idea of having a 5th player in matches. Some think it's a neat idea, some think the opposite. But what about other ideas? The GamePad does have a screen on it, after all. And Smash has had some more casual game modes in the past... so why can't Smash learn from Nintendoland or NSMBU?
What are your ideas for modes that utilize the GamePad in an interesting way? To start off, here were some of my own thoughts:

Manipulating Stages
What if there's a way for the GamePad user to manipulate stages in some way? Could be fun for a casual distraction... and rage inducing. Which is fun. =P
Camera
Remember Camera Mode from Melee? And how it took up a character space in a match? Well, that wouldn't be necessary anymore, and the gyroscopic capabilities of the controller would mean that the person operating the camera would have the ability to very rapidly pan along the stage.
And heck, maybe the GamePad can act kinda like TIVO in the respect that the person using the GamePad could leave the real-time battle momentarily and scrub through the past 20 seconds or so in slow motion in order to capture the perfect shot. Afterwards, the camera operator could then just hit a button to return to the current state of the match on the GamePad. And any photos taken wouldn't have to interrupt gameplay. I know that as an artist, I'd get a kick out of that.
Item Control
For instance, maybe you could do some sort of Tetris-like thing where the GamePad user has a queue of random items and can drop them wherever he pleases in whatever container he pleases. I'd get a kick out of always putting a bomb in a capsule and putting it in the middle of everything.
I remember back in the day where my brother and I would put motion-sensor-bombs on very high and blow up all the F-Zero racers on Mute City. Waiting for bombs was sometimes annoying, so this could make it more fun. Or imagine arranging "Pokemon battles" where you have two players stand on opposite sides of the stage and give them each 1 Pokeball at a time. They would then proceed to throw their Pokeballs toward the other player in turns and see who dies first.
Or even better yet, this sort of thing could allow competitive players to facilitate strategic usage of items in tournaments! For instance, you arrange at the start of the tournament that halfway through each match, you would give each player a certain item. Or perhaps you would know ahead of time that halfway through the match, a specific item would be spawned in a specific location. It could make for some interesting competitive matches that utilize a key part of Smash that has, up to this point, been basically disregarded.
Can you guys think of any other ideas? I know we like to be hardcore here, but I like the occasional casual distraction. =P
