So, recently I was watching my favorite smash 4 reviewer, EWNetwork. His newest video was reviewing a GAME BREAKING EXPLOIT on for glory in wich two pac men on a team waited out the time limit by using their up special, and then when the time ran out, they did it again until the bombs killed off the other team.

I mean for people that are trying to cheat out points on for glory, If Sakurai doesnt come back and fix this, then for glory team play would be comepletely demolished as a legitimate non exploited part of the game.

Plus, Team Attack is on for tourney matches. This wouldn't work out very well there since Pac-Jump has a hitbox...

Who ever said For Glory was a legitimate, non-exploited mode in the first place? :p

I win 95% of my for glory games, it already is completely demolished with bad players

On the topic at hand, they would have to /nerf/ pac-man UP-B or make the bombs in SD fall from the top.

The easiest fix in my mind would be to instate a 1 or 3 uses per airtime limit to the move.

It would be a quick fix to just make the bombs spawn from higher up. They are high up but not hitting the blastzone so just make them spawn there.

Yes, but you need to see your nerfing something soley for 1 specific situation. Witch cant be justified for a change. Though sakuria is a casual so it will probly happen sadly

Alright, after checking the video, it does look like an exploit rather than a strategy. Those Pac-Men are going way past the blast zone in under a minute.

If only the OP paid more mind to not make his thread title sensationalist. -_-

This isn't too hard of a strategy to beat. In the video, you HAVE to go to sudden death. If they try to stall out sudden death, just go kill them. Most characters are fast enough to catch them. Stalling is kind of pointless in team matches. They should still nerf this because there is some potential for abuse and a nerf wouldn't effect normal play.

Yeah, this doesn't matter at all in tournaments, and For Glory teams is already the dumbest, most degenerate thing ever due to no team attack. I fail to see how this makes it worse.
Team attack on is what ruins competitive Doubles. It just degrades into 2 1v1s and ignores the whole team thing. This strat is lame but team attack on ruins other potential strategies.

Too bad team mode is always set to time. If it was stock like 1on1, you could just kill yourself and find a new opponent. Sakurai needs to fix this because if enough people use this to troll others, it could ruin the game for people who like to do teams.

Or better yet, change teams from time to stock. I think 99% of Smash players prefer stock over time. It's stupid how time is the default or only mode for so many things.

No this is not game breaking.

As already stated in this thread
1. Tournaments don't use sudden death, whoever has the percent lead would win in the event of a tie.
2. Tournaments ban stalling tactics like this
3. This only works if team attack is off. Every smash doubles tournament I've seen has team attack enabled.

Not only this, but it's totally counterable within For Glory. You can disrupt the trampoline chain with a projectile with some knockback, or if you get over to them quickly enough and hit them. If you watch the video again when sudden death starts, you see how badly the red team deals with this exploit when time is of the essence.

Sure it's an annoying and cheap exploit, but it's nothing more than a gimmick. Anyone calling it game-breaking or unbeatable is sorely mistaken.

As an aside, one way to fix it would be to have someone else's trampoline count as a hit. This means the one player would KO the other when the use the trampoline above the blast line. This would almost be impossible to replicate in a normal game.

Another way to fix it is to make Sudden Death more brutal, which would fix some other things. Basically, add a NO ZONE, the game would give you an alarm, and if you stay there tyoo long, you are instantly KOed. This would be
  • Under the stage
  • Top of the stage for more than 5 seconds
  • The ledge and general area for 15 seconds

Im NOT talking about tourneys, just general Team matches online. In that sense, I feel it is game breaking. I understand that it wouldnt even be an option in tourneys, but thats not what im trying to say. Im trying to imply that team matches in for glory may, or may not become a cheap way to gain for glory points, not like it matters that much though right? I mean, So what if we lose a big aspect of online play, Its just a small defect right???

As soon as I see 2 Pacs, I immediately go on the offensive, thowing projectiles like crazy and using attacks with high base knockback. It isn't game-breaking, but it is an annoying gimmick that leads to a loss if not dealt with immmediately.

Pit's Arrows and MegaMan can probably counter this. Annoying stall, but only foolproof with fighters without projectiles.

When we're talking about tournaments, I only see this working if this team takes a stock first, then gets away and times out the clock. I'm sure there are a few ways to get around this exploit with a few characters, but it does seem pretty broken...That being said I hardly see it being "GAME BREAKING". I'm sure when we see more glitches and stuff, Sakurai will have to patch the game and fix all the problems that people start finding. On the off chance that he doesn't fix it, tournaments can just make a rule against it, as 2v2 players are really the only ones affected by this.
