Full hop laser question?

Sometimes when you laser, say on battlefield, if you stand under the middle platform and do full jump lasers, you'll land on the platform (the same as if you just did a full jump). Sometimes, however, you'll just shoot your lasers and never land on the platform. Anyone know why this is?

My guess is you're fastfalling through the platform

I don't think so, I was doing it without hitting the control stick at all, and the jump even looks shorter xD

I'm not sure, but I think the frame when you start the laser would be the difference, because then you'd be in a different part of the laser animation as you reach the platform, which might change your height enough to land or not land.
