Friends always appear as "awaiting registration"

Now, I'm not sure what to make of it but I've added a few(5) friends I know in real life, and I've seen some of them enter my code in person, and it still says "awaiting registration". Is this supposed to happen?

I think it just stays that way for a while until it recognizes the linking of friend codes.... idk but it changes after a while for me, but yeah it is like that for a few minutes....

It's been days and it hasn't happened.

You both have to be on at the same time.
