Freeze Throw Glitch

Not sure if this has been posted. I haven't read the gannon forum at all. Anyway...

Gannon has a glitchy grab. The glitch happens a lot, but not always fully.

To reproduce:

1) Have an opponent roll or stand up from an attack while on a small incline. Ex) Near the front of Fox's spaceship from melee.
2) Dash grab them as they get up.

The best way to test is:
1) forward b.
2) While lying on ground, roll away from gannon.
3) Chase and grab as they rise from the roll.

The timing is hard, but forgiving. Most of the time you'll do a partial glitch. However, If done properly, the opponent gets stuck looping the beginning frames of the grab animation. The game also loops the grab confirmation sound... making a sound like a machine gun.

While glitched the opponen't can't escape the grab. Gannon is also frozen holding the player. One grab attack or throw will release the player. Grab attack sends the player at wacky angles. So it could be a useful setup.

A partial glitch is basically the same thing, but the looping animation and sound stop by the time the player gets fully grabbed. I haven't really figured out any potential uses of this glitch. Obviously if the full glitch occurs, you can stall out the match, but assuming the technique doesn't get banned, grab attack from this may setup for some fun stuff.

This thing should happen a lot though... since forward B places the opponent at your feet it's really easy to tech chase->grab. More testing will be done. And pictures from Tapion (cell phone video!) will come soon!

This won't get band because it doesn't really affect the match too badly, plus stalling isn't allowed so if you do start to use it in order to stall, you'll get penalized.

Stalling the match for extended periods of time isn't allowed, although the "wacky" angles you speak of may be useful for combos.

I think it'd be really hard to ban simply because it's easy to do.

We discovered it with a simple tech chase->grab. If you're on a ramp... you're rolling the dice.

It's GOING to hapen... at least the partial glitch, which ends up lagging the grab from completing by a slight hiccup.

Behind someone... could be U.
That's a glitch I have to watch out for. My brother often plays Ganondorf, and if that happens to me at high damage, then well, I'm screwed. But it won't happen so often, I suppose.

It... doesn't do any more damage than a normal throw. Perhaps less even, since gannon can't grab attack more than once.
