I just got an apple out of the fridge, cleaned it, and was about to eat it when suddenly I heard a steady popping noise. The noise was coming from nearby, so I looked around when I suddenly realized it was coming from the apple!!!!
I freaked out and had many possibilities go through my head: The apple is a bomb, something inside the apple is making this noise, or I was going insane. Under closer examination though, I found a small hole that was emitting small bubbles in a steady beat at the center of the bottom pit! There was probably a small pocket of air inside the apple, and I had made a small opening in the pit when I cleaned it. water covered the hole, so the air would come out in bubbles which popped and made the noise. I was astounded, utterly shock by this rare specimen of an apple! This was a one in 10,000 apple, and I had somehow found it!
The popping went on for two minutes but eventually died down. It depressed me to see such a odd phenomenon end without more people seeing it, so I showed my grandparents who were just as perplexed. I tried to blow air back into the apple to re-pressurize the air pocket, but without success. The popping slowly ended, and with it went the positive feeling I had just gained.![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
Now I'm feeling down, because something which once made sound had ceased. It resonated with watching a once lively life-form live, and die, except at a much faster rate than any animal on this planet. I have no clue on why I had become so worked up over a simple inanimate apple, I just don't know. I knew it wasn't alive and it was simply making little bubbles that popped and created a steady beat. Yet I coundn't overcome this feeling that it was alive.
People are probably gonna read this and think I'm being dramatic or am a lunatic. Oh well
Now I have two questions:
Has food ever made great influences on your mood?
Has anyone ever expierienced any strange phenomenons with food?
