Are there any websites that analyze the moves from Melee in terms of the number of frames that they take? I'm a networking researcher (though this is not part of my research) and I think that Brawl is not really going to work for DSL and Cable users, so I was thinking I'd try taking a look at Melee and answering the question, "If Melee were played online, how much would game play degrade on a given connection?" Frame-by-frame analysis of the different moves and techniques would really help with that.

Thanks!

The information you're probably looking for is "How many moves start doing damage extremely quickly?"

The answer is: Many. Falco and Fox's shines and Jigglypuff's rest come out in 1 frame.

So, you can't do some of the fancy things in the network code that you'd like to do. Sorry.

If this doesn't answer your question, just say so, and I'm sure someone will help you out. I mean, you probably don't need to go sifting through pages of frame-by-frame stuff in order to get an answer that one of us could just give you.

well i never actually thought that frame by frame would actaully affect gmaeplay on a cable connection although there will be some lag in terms of distance form each online player

You know, this is probably best asked/discussed in the MELEE boards. Seeing how it's a question about...you know...Melee. There very well might be threads about this already there.
