what are the pros of marth's foxtrot, i.e. what exactly can you reliably cancel it into? I heard that you can cancel it into any smash, but when i try and do that, i usually just get the dash attack. Can someone explain this please?

You can cancel into a smash, but don't use the C stick. Instead use the analog and A button. It will still take some practice though

ok, that explains why i wasn't able to get it work. Are there other uses for it other than spacing and an alternate approach to a smash?

It's easier to pivot, also takes practice though
