Hi all. This is my first post on this site so as an intro, name's Smilez out of S. Florida(Coral Spring/Tamarac2 be exact) I've started to learn a lot of the Advanced techniques in SSBM wave shining, wall teching, wave landing, infinites, etc etc. But I'm continuing to have trouble w/ my forward wave shine combo. I can do the actual move consistently across the stage but when it comes to actually combo-ing and opponent even a comp they all ways seems to slide out of reach(I'm aware that you can't combo all characters). With exception of "Link" I can't seem to reach the opponent in time for the follow up wave shine to continue the combo.

Ok, so basically the question is what should I do to improve my wave shine combo?

I understand that it takes a lot practice but if anyone could give me any pointers or areas to focus on it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

first off this should have been in the character specific threads.

secondly im no pro at it, but make sure youre doing full wavedashes...not just having the control stick at a 45 degree angle, but closer to horizontal.
thats all i can think of right now.

Sorry I was unaware of the character specific forum. Noted for next time. Thanks

For some of the characters, even if you do a perfect wavedash, you will have to walk a tiny bit to reach them. It IS still possible with some people if you have to walk, since they are still stunned in the waveshine. Also, most likely, you won't do a perfect waveshine everytime, so for characters like peach (8 ft knockback) and c. falcon (9 ft knockback) you will still have to walk up to them occasionally.

I'm not sure if you were aware, but generally you should be grabbing or upsmashing after you do a waveshine, the only time that continually doing your waveshine would be a good idea is, well, when you want to show off. Up throw upair or the upsmash adds more damage and comboability.
But to answer your question, it really just takes practice.

Lmao! You hit the nail right on the head! I'm a fox player, showing off is part of my game. I understand your concern and what position your coming from but sometimes I just want to have fun and look flashy. Thanks for the post.

*And actually you can get a fairly low percentage kill if you wave shine someone off the ledge and shine spike em.(If you catch em off guard: No DI) Thats what I would like to aspire to.

This actually more helpful than I originally thought it was going to be. I just tried it and I see a little improvement already. Anything else? Thanks
