Fox 1st jab does weird things

So I have been playing against a fox CPU today, and something weird occurred. One of my characters moves (falcos 1st jab or capt. falcons 1st jab) collided with Fox' 1st jab. Then Fox moved through my character. As if he first stood in front of me, then wavedashed, and then was behind me. Does anyone have any idea how this works/why this works. This has not occurred while I was playing against a different character.

If fox had momentum while he was jabbing and the move clanked he would keep sliding past you. I believe this is what happened.

Yeah it was probably a clank like AndyT said.
