For Glory - Opponents Suicide?

So I've been wondering, sometimes when I play for glory there are many instances where I take a stock and then just run around and do basic Sonic techs and then they...kill themselves when they respawn. I have so many replays of it that I do not even save them anymore unless it's more ridiculous than usual. Does anyone have an idea as to why they do this? Has this happened to anyone else (using any character actually)?

P.S The game isn't laggy whenever they do this.

They probably just give up. I only did this once, but only because I knew I was outmatched and there was horrible lag.
