flame canceling

hey i just wanted to know what flame canceling is ive been looking and cant find what it is+ what it would be useful for

you press B as you hit the ground and there's no start up time or something, it's only in the US version. Gimpy says it's in brawl too though, which is odd,

Kirby with bowsers power can flame cancel in any version.

Interesting that a glitch capable of giving bowser the slightest mindgame was expunged from newer versions... but kirby was so pitiful, they just let the little guy have it. Cute
