Fixed gear biking?

Anyone in here bike seriously and know anything about fixed gear biking?
I just bought mine today with NO breaks and stopping is kinda hard..

Anyone else ride fixed/single speed?

Yeah its a pretty weird concept if your new to it but you CAN stop its just harder per say if your going really fast, its not that easy to just STOP pedeling lol.

Cant you just pedal backwards? Because when I was little I remember buying a bike at wal mart with no breaks that had to be stopped by pedaling backwards....

When I was little I also had one of those bikes. It was actually my first bike, so it was an awkward transition when I first rode on a bike with breaks.

So yeah I'm pretty sure you can stop by pedaling backwards. It's not all that hard once you get use to it.

Those are called coaster brakes I had a couple of them as a child..
the thing is though with fixed gear its much harder to stop let me explain...

Those bike you had when you were little were able to coast...
Coasting is when you get tired and you just stop pedeling but the bike still moves without you pedeling.. A fixed gear doesnt have that you CANT stop pedeling there is no coasting so braking is alot harder. its kinda weird and i dont know how to stop yet lol
