Hey everyone! This is just a little thread looking to see what you've all noticed about the game that you might not have known or thought about before. I'll start!

Villager's recovery is insane, and Zipzo said that edgegrabbing felt like Melee, but from what I can tell, the edges still seem pretty magnetic.

Gameplay looks good, twitch chat is full of melee purest and melee haters though. Overall it continue to look like the game we all wanted back in 08 but extensive testing is still needed.

I'm pretty hype about it.

edit: I guess I should add a bit of a fun fact. It looks like pikachu muti hitting dsmash and bair can be escaped with certain moves. They demonstrated that Mario and Mega man can escape fairly constantly until the higher percents with their up B's. Which means the move doesn't combo into it self and that both Mario and mega man has invincible frames near the start of their up B's

Disappointed. The only positive things I see so far (besides no tripping) are that you can not cancel hitstun and that the movement and fall speed is slightly faster than brawl. Without momentum transferring from run to jump or a solid useful dash dance the main offensive options are so limited that defensive play will naturally grow.

Well, Zero liked it. His opinion is probably worth more than mine on this topic. Heck, I was going to enjoy the game anyways.

Im more annoyed about the changes of less hit stun, there used to be so much more combo potentional in this game and the change from 64 to melee ruined it. /s

I really liked the demo TBH and this is just the starting 5.

Link and Mario and Villager lookin' solid as ****. :shades:

I need to watch some more Pikachu, to actually judge him.

Mega Man though, looks odd. I mean, it looks like his aerials are solid, except maybe nair, and he looks good, I just see alot of issues arising with having so many projectiles and less straight up solid options. Obviously though, one demo with 5 characters and Battlefield only isn't going to tell us how it is.

But holy **** does the game look smooth as hell. Like, that gameplay is incredibly fluid, and those combos!

Can you believe its mario vs pikachu?
Exactly. This isn't Melee Marth vs. Fox, but it's something in that veign. So much back and forth, it's nice.

The cool thing is that it's very apparent that the physics are unlike any of the smash games. This one is gonna be it's own beast.

The removal of straight up chain grabs and other small things that were very useful but didn't contribute to an interesting game is extremely encouraging to me. Also the fact that the game looks very satisfying in its """feel"""

Looked fantastic. I have nothing negative to say about it but that could be the hype blinding me from flaws. Can't wait to play it.

Having played it for most of the day, it certainly has it strengths and flaws. Looking forward to getting the full experience on Friday night. Overall, much faster than Brawl and the movement feels more natural to me but for those who stayed with Melee and then went to P:M will be disappointed. I did notice that defensive game play will be rewarded rather than offensive game play but this is just the starting. It's hard to say where this game will go and what kind of legacy it will leave. It would be pretty stupid though to make a sudden judgement call right from the start without looking further into this game.

COMBOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@ J Joe73191 Keep hating! Either way, it's a good thing you don't have to buy the game!

Sounds promising. Can't wait to see how this game evolves!

Also, would you mind translating what is on the bottom screen when you hover over the Wii U icon on the 3DS main menu?

"Go here to link with "Super Smash Bros. for Wii U""

Link's D-air is super slow but more powerful.
Villager has a crazy recovery.
Mega Man's U-air is pretty powerful from what I can tell.
Gust Bellows are super cheap.
Arceus is easily my most favorite Pokemon out there.
Ghirahim is a pretty powerful Assist Trophy in that his moves are rather sporadic and chaotic,

I think it looks like a balance between Offensive and Defensive where both are rewarded. I mean, just look at the Mario and Link combos!

It certainly has a better offensive game than Brawl but I do think the game rewards players more so for playing defensively. But again the game is its early stages of meta game analysis and even then its VERY early. We can't say much yet based on a demo but that's just how I feel about it :/ I am not one to argue the finer more detailed points about Smash.

I used to be so anxious. The game was looking rather slow and clunky during E3. I was hoping so badly for this to not to be a barely faster Brawl 2.0....

Then the new demo blew that out of the water. This entire game looks and feels so much different from Brawl than I initially expected. Everything's infinitely more fun to do than in Brawl, and the speed is a LOT more satisfactory than I could've hoped for. And remember, we could only play the slower characters.(Minus maybe Pikachu)

So I'm hyped.Almost all doubts I had about Smash 4 are gone, minus a few. It seems to actually have character balance(for once), it has speed, it has combos, and it has that satisfying "oomph" when you do something cool. Now....just online. Make it happen this time, Sakurai. It's the final step to greatness.

ill have to disagree here, I think the the defensive option will have its uses as they should but it should not go as far a brawl did and the game right now does reward aggressive play since it leads to combos that people can't just air dodge out of

I'm really impressed. Gameplay looks fluid, neither offence or defence are over centralizing, characters seem much more balanced and I'm loving the combos!

i'm liking what i'm seeing the new demo makes it look and play like it's own game the landing lag is low which is great. I'm just hoping the meta won't be defensive. I can't wait to play this game. I'm gonna try to enjoy it as much as possible.

This is so perfect.

Can't wait for release. I wanna see some Falco combos.

Are there any combos with Link?
I was able to pull off a combo that ended with a meteor KO at 50% on Villager!

I have been pulling off a lot of sweet combos ... makes me wish there was a replay mode in the demo.

I can't speak as someone who is an expert at the game...I've played hours and hours of the game, but not very competitively, just as fun with friends....however, this game just feels right. It took a little getting use to it, but now I just am having a blast with the demo. Everything is so smooth, and the fact the 3ds can handle so much going on and never slow down is truly amazing. Link feels stronger then in brawl, and the villager is a blast to play as (he seemed much better then I anticipated). I agree with a previous commenter that the Gust Bellows is a cheap ass weapon, I make sure to grab it every time. This has just hyped me even more for the full release and I believe it will make both competitive players and just for fun players happy.

It's time to start the movement...

In all seriousness this game looks fantastic thus far. My expectations have definitely been exceeded and I can't wait to finally get my hands on it soon.
He must be STOPPED! #BANMARIO

I'm enjoying it a lot. It looks great on the OG 3DS and plays smoothly. All of the characters are fun. I personally submained Link, Pikachu, and Mario all at different points in time across the series and they all feel great here. Villager is fun and quirky. Mega Man was my least favorite for a bit since he was so hard to control, but something just clicked and now I'm playing well as him. I love his Dair- it's a nice KO move from a short-hop and meteor smashing with it is great.

Seems ok. Definitely not super exciting to somebody who is used to project m and melee but it is a start. Also megaman can cancel out of weak hitstun like mario's up tilt with his up B, villagers pocket has invulnerability frames, and return pocket damage is somewhere around near 2x damage and some knockback.

Lot of characters seem to be following the sheik or roy combo game where tilts are a part of their playstyle. Not necessarily a bad thing but honestly I like variety in combo styles. Having everybody tilt into an fsmash or fair is kinda generic feeling.

Oh and blast zones are too far out. You can live for so long and most recoveries wont have a problem coming back to the now free ledge.

Bit surprised dash dancing is still not in as it was a common suggestion. Air momentum is like brawl.

It isn't wow'ing me in a way that it is a must buy but I'll be watching for more lab work. A lot of combos shown right now are on pc chars and not people. Inb4 super hate for differing opinion.

Man I hope that is just the demo version and dosen't make it into the final game.

I can't see that as being anymore then a nuisance when facing megaman or mario, in terms of both fun and the MU meta.

But I hear they still cant escape the heavier hitting attacks and can be combo'd afterwards. So I guess instead of complaining I suppose I should just "git gud".
