First Gen Battle Help

Iiight, me and my friend have started to play Pokemon Blue/Red again and we organised to battle in 2 weeks. I already know what Pokemon he is going to use cause he told me for some reason, I think he thought I'd forget. Anyway hes using Charizard, Venasaur, Blastoise, Pidgoet, Alakazam and Raichu. So what im asking you guys is what is the best team (we banned legendaires, so none of them) to beat his and the moves they would have.

Im not going to make a team for you, because I can't remember most of the moves. Here are a few pointers:
Psychics have no counters.
Sleep is a broken status condition. Abuse it as much as you can.
Move pools in RBY are generally pathetically limited, but try to increase your type coverage as much as you can
If you're not banning it, also abuse double team/minimize.
In RBY there are only really about 12 pokemon that are any good. Off the top of my head: alakazam, starmie, snorlax, tauros, golem OR rhydon, chansey.

Ohhh yes, I forgot that this is actually battle and not NetBattle where there is sleep clause! Haha, thanks for the pointer!

I was planning to use Alakazam, Starmie and Snorlax from the start but I dont understand why tarous, golem, rhydon and chansey are good?

Anyways, this was my team for Pokemon Red...although I don't remember their attacks...

[Platypus]

If you want to make the opponent cry in frustration, add a Slowbro with Amnesia. It raises both Sp. Attack and Defense in RBY.

Chansey is a BEAST in this gen. Use Ice Beam,Softboiled,Thunderbolt, and you will kill everything. The reason it's so good is because the Special Stat hasn't been split yet. Therefore, Chansey has massive Special Attack and Special Defense, along with massive HP.

 

[Problem2]

What I'd use:

Chansey
- Minimize / Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Blizzard (has 90% accuracy in RBY)
- Softboiled

Chansey was the B-word back in the day. Had awesome Special and HP so she was hard to take down. Use minimize if evasion is allowed, but otherwise use Twave. (Don't let Chansey fall asleep!)

Alakazam:
- Thunderwave / Thunderbolt
- Psychic
- Amnesia
- Recover

Paralyze incoming counters or Amnesia when your opponent has none and being sweeping with Psychic (watch out for Slowbro though) Since there is no sleep clause, you may not want to use Twave so that you can put more things to sleep.

Exeggutor
- Sleep Powder
- Explosion
- Double Team / ??? (attack move)
- ??? (attack move)

Put stuff to sleep with and then Double Team so your opponents can't attack you and continue to put things to sleep! Explode on things that give your team the most trouble.

Tauros:
- Body Slam
- Earthquake
- Blizzard
- Thunderbolt

A beat down pokemon that is hard to counter. Great late game.

Golem
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Body Slam (paralysis hax) / Fire Blast (burn hax)
- Explosion

Can easily come in on Charizard, Pidgeott and Raichu (unless Raichu knows Surf). Body Slam and Fire Blast are filler moves so they really don't matter.

Snorlax / Starmie

Sorry that I can't think of anything for these two! I was never good with Starmie and my Snorlax sets always involve Curse or Sleep Talk. D: If you use Snorlax, make sure to pack Selfdestruct for some UBER STAB DAMAGE!!!!

do not use golem, since it will get utterly ***** by anything, special attacks are the way to go this gen
