I don't know if this has been said before but I have not seen any threads on it.

Samus now has the worst final smash is the game if performed on a standing opponent. You can shield the entire smash, or at least almost all of it. Even if your shield breaks, you wont suffer any knockback and you will recover just after Samus is done transforming. I have not been able to get this to work 100% of the time though, I think you have to be standing a certain distance away.

Thoughts on this?

Most of us don't play with final smashes...so it's not a big blow to samus mains.

Other than that, I guess just work on someone's shield a bit before you do it? Don't be predictable? I dunno.

Just putting it out there for those who do use final smashes. And yea, wearing down their shield first solves it.

I have a friend who likes to play with final smashes who rather consistently beats me when I'm Samus. In his opinion Samus has the worst FS. (Although I'd have given it to the ICs).

It is relatively easy to avoid if the opponent manages to stay near Samus (which, thanks to her poor running speed, isn't necessarily too difficult). With the huge warmup time on the FS it's not too hard to get behind her.

Additionally, even if I do land the FS and manage to kill him, he can often respawn and KO me with a fully charged smash just as I finish transforming. He also gets to throw all of the suite pieces off but one to use on me when I spawn.

Using it off the stage (to keep him from getting behind me) has led to my own KO before I manage to control ZSS - you fall as you transform. For those of you who've seen the video with Wolf destroying himself with his final smash on Melee's pipes, apparently a similar thing happens if Samus is just standing on the blocks when she fires her FS.

When I end up playing with FSs I usually switch to another character. Even if I'm much better with Samus without FSs it's nice not to be KOed every time one appears on the screen - even if I get it first.

I agree with kNit. just don't be predictable. Peach has the worst FS by far and Samus's can work. Just takes a bit more skill than most

Peach is the absolute worst. You get to heal and get a free charged smash.

I would give the worst to Kirby... absolutely useless if you only have FS on.

Funny, I thought Luc Skywalker had the worst Final Smash. I don't think I've ever been hit by it or seen anyone get hit by it. Definitely one of the easiest Final Smashes to avoid, if not THE easiest.
Samus's isn't bad, you just need to know when to use it.

To make Peach's much worse, all you have to do is hang on a cliff, climb a ladder, fly multiple times in the air when she uses it, or use Fox's Reflector in the air to slowly fall. As long as you aren't touching the ground, you cannot be affected by the sleep-inducing power of Peach's Final Smash.

Anyway, as for Samus, in Basic Brawl, my opponents tend to run away or fly real high to escape, so I do a slight jump and then use it to get those in the air. (Don't bother getting behind, since Samus will draw anything behind her to the front.) Other than that, outside of Basic Brawl or Team Brawl, I don't use items, especially when brawling with my own friends.

Also if anyone doesn't know you can also aim the fs up and down, kinda slow but helps a bit. I think its good to use with jumping then if they go above you aim up, the try to go under it you aim down.

Also imo her fs is better for ko'ing, since Samus is good at racking up damage. But I haven't used it in a while so things may have changed.

Edit: I think this is commonly known, and I know I've read it posted somewhere, but no one has mentioned it in this thread, so I thought it couldn't hurt.

That's exactly what I do in Basic Brawl. I found that it is better to use Samus' f-air to acquire the Smash Ball, or use a fully charged Charge Shot. It's funny to see my opponents all gathered to acquire it, and then I fire my Charge Shot and have it instantly.
