Final Roster at 39

35 is a the number of spaces on the choose your player screen but we have 39 players at our disposal counting the newly confirmed ability to choose Zamus and the 3 pokemon at will from the select screen. So we can debunk the 35 roster and usher in the 39.

Each and every player with different attributes, abilities, weaknessess, strengths, poses, weight, and style are just that...different!

Just because they are on one square doesnt mean they are one.

Take the Tier list for melee. Sheik was given a seperate place than zelda. Why? because Sheik is a different character!

Plus it makes everyone feel better if you say 39.

That sir, is the same way I feel. I don't think it will be possible to play the WHOLE match as one pokemon, say Charizard. You'd have to use Squirtle and Ivysaur too. Each pokemon would have their strenghs and weeknesses so you've got to master all of them. This is very much unlike Samus/Zamus and Shiek/Zelda where you can choose not to transform back into the other without hurting your chances of winning.

Yes, it had being confirmed by all the players in Japan with there copies of Brawl that by pressing R on the selection screen on Samus will make you Zamus.

sure put limits on PT's pokemon they're still different characters and have different playstyle limits can't blend everything just changes your options

...really its not a trick. its the truth. Just because they are on a single square on the select screen doesnt mean they are a single character.

what do u define as a character in brawl? its a single entity with its own unique move set, actions, poses, and taunts. Brawl offers 39 different unique move sets, poses, taunts, and actions.

Eh, just depends on your definition. If you wanted to be really strict you could say that the pokemon trainer himself is the character you're playing as, controlling the three pokemon himself, hence, one character. I'll compromise and say that pkmn trainer is 1 and 1/3 a character, making 37&1/3 characters

Very true.
I think that 39 is the real final roster, different movesets = different characters.
Characters such as Zero Suit Samus and Shiek, although the same person, have different physics, movesets, etc. Their sub-forms count as individual characters.
25->39. Sakurai really did a great job on this game, his hard and thorough efforts made the game that we could only dream of. ^ ~

Compared with the percent of secret characters in melee, i think there will be 23 starters and 19 or so secret characters. (Though compared to the original, I DON'T KNOW!- stuck in caps lock)

Considering Zelda/Sheik and all of Red's Pokemon can be chosen by choosing one character, I has always counted Zelda/Sheik as one character.

With STS (Skin Tight Samus as I call her) being a seprate character, I'd say the roster has 36 characters.

That makes no sense. You can't play as the 2nd Ice Climber and the 2nd Ice Climber does not have it's own moveset. You gotta think logically about it dude.

I don't consider Sheik as a seprate character, because she can switch during battle (same deal with Pokemon, but I have a seprate rant for them). I just consider Sheik/Zelda as one character with lots of movesets.

Pokemon, considering your not allowed to play as any of them as long as you want, I hardly consider them single characters. I consider them as unplayable as we thought ZSS was.

Now let's put a stamina bar between them(A hypothetical stamina bar that we still dont know how it works). Would you call Mario/Fox/Bowser, ONE CHARACTER? This is your argument in nutshell, it makes no sense. I eat 3 times a day. I eat a breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have to do this. I cannot have two dinners, three lunches, etc. Are all of these considered one big meal? No, it is 3 seperate meals that I have to have one each of. Eating my breakfast does not ruin my enjoyment of my lunch.
Do you see what I'm saying?

I cannot agree with that logic at all. Even if I was to agree with you, you would have to say that Pokemon Trainer being 3 characters is like ice climbers being 1.5 because really, Pokemon Trainer is 4 total characters that can be on screen (counting the trainer himself).

No matter how you look at it, they are each a separate character that got bundled for the price of one. They easily count as three characters, just with a limit as to how much you can use them.

That's a bad comparision, we're saying the PT is ONE CHARACTER and not the three pokemon. Because of stamina and getting KOed switching it forces you to use all three. What you said is utterly stupid.

There are 37 characters, and 39 movesets. FINAL. Stop this pointless discussion.
