I don't know, to make sure maybe?
But how can we draw conclusions to changes in knockback against a character that weighs differently from what the previous data shows? There's no reference point then.

Well like I would know that honestly since I don't play as Mario in Smash 4, I assume people took data from the previous Mario and are attempting to find how much weight changed from him.

Probably because people are dumb and mario's weight is still the same.

Yeah, I'm just not going to listen to any updates on the patch anymore lmao. I'm hearing and reading everything that has no backing so... It's all just awful.

It would help if they could give us some notes. Nothing even specific. Just like X characters weight has changed. Least we'd know where to start.

I don't think one or two frames anywhere on Sonic would make the slightest difference on how we play though. I'm happy in the knowledge that nothing has changed, at least nothing noticable and game breaking, so I don't think any of us should lose any sleep over it.

I keep hearing that Mario's weight changed so why the **** is everyone testing **** on Mario if HIS WEIGHT CHANGED?

:093:
I think the Mario weight change is a load of bunk atm. No evidence of it.

And even if he was it still says a lot that according to Thinkaman's analysis, USmash could KO him at 110%. That said, again the veracity of the KB increase is looking less likely because Sonic's USmash in general has weird hitbox properties.

Everything seems like a load of bunk atm, lol. Ah well.

I also just read somewhere that Usmash is completely unchanged. I can't handle this anymore.

Cam and I just tested a bunch of stuff, him playing 1.0.4 Sonic, me playing 1.0.3 Sonic. There was nothing that was changed whatsoever, everything in the OP is wrong.

Only thing we want to look into now is cypher grabs and possible bthrow nerf.

cypher grab on sonic is gone, i've tested it like 30 times and without letting sonic touch the stage after an up-b and he can just homing attack or jump right after he grab breaks. I'm kind of happy right now.

The one thing we forgot to test was Up-Smash knock back. I already updated so we can no longer test, can anyone confirm this?

I mean, we can't confirm frame perfect, but if there were changes, it's going to be by like 1-2 frames lol.

I'm thinking that it along those lines most likely as far as dash attack is concerned. As no matter how many times i use it sonic still feels like he takes longer to move out DA than before. though i think the whole thing with Usmash KO'ing early is because the blast zones got smaller, granted this is something thats not easy to confirm but it sure feels like it considering Uair kills consistently after 100 if landed at the top of the screen.

Kind of funny when you think about it. Sonic is probably the most neglected third party character that's been in Smash (only got five seconds of SSE screentime in Brawl, arguably poorly balanced in Brawl, only one original song in Brawl, no original songs in Smash 4, only third party character to not be in a cinematic etc.) and even though the buffs in Smash 4 were enough to make people think of him as a top contender, he still gets almost entirely neglected in patches. Probably cause so few people play as him.

Oh well, can't complain. Smash 4 Sonic ended up being almost everything I could hope for him to be.

At least the only confirmed thing is a buff for us.

Really not surprised at all that all the other **** has yet to be confirmed. Classic.

EDIT: Can the OP be fixed?

Wow, can actually confirm Sonic did get a nerf.

... His FSmash has one or two more frames of additional cooldown.

No offense, but at this point, I want to punch anyone that claims to know something about a character changing without hard evidence of it. This is also my problem with people that aren't frequently around making important threads like this. Hopefully people actually read the posts in the thread and don't just look at the first post.

Edit: Skimmed through the big thread of changes and saw the posts. Your face is safe from punching... for now. I figured it was just placebo effect, but I did feel like I couldn't move away as quickly after f-smash. I have no problem with this. It's a very minimal change and is still a very good move. No one ever expects getting down angled f-smash poked on ledge.

For those wanting to see the difference.

I just tried killing Sheik consistenly in training, on omega battlefield from the center of the stage, with a uncharged usmash confirming all 8 hits.
On 1.03 Sheik was being killed on 124%.
On 1.04 Sheik was being killed on 107%

I didn't use Mario because of the apparent weight gain that he had. Also, sometimes I had a problem with the two launch trayectories that Usmash has, being one almost completly vertical and the other one, diagonal. Still, my results are considering the lower kill % for both cases.
I don't know if my post was completly ignored or I just don't have enough credibility. Still...
USMASH WAS BUFFED ON KNOCKBACK.

Even if is there many hitboxes with different knockbacks, my results were considering the lower kill % for ALL OF THEM proved along 10 straight kills.
I'm sorry if I a sound a little douchey by repeating myself, I just want to help Sonic's metagame :)

No offense, but unless I see video evidence or it's from the people that have a long lasting record for helping the community, I just don't bother. At this point, there's just way too much random info being thrown out. Data dump is apparently coming tonight, so we can all just sit back and wait on that.

can we test to see if Dsmash has less cooldown?
The people that have found the change in f-smash have already stated there's no startup or ending lag differences in Sonic's other smash attacks.

Edit: Apparently the vectoring removal is real and is a huge change. I know this will make uthrow more useful, especially at low percents. Going forward, it would probably be smart to focus on looking for new options that may have been just out of reach before patch due to vectoring.

So if vectoring is confirmed to be gone... Does that mean DI as we knew it is back?

Well for sure uthrow > uair at early %'s will at least be more guaranteed now thankfully as well as Dtilt > Run Skip stop canceled jab reset > Fsmash. And the fact that vectoring is nerfed/removed in certain aspects means uair will KO much more consistently.

Well actually, now we don't know if Usmash was buffed or if the vector removal has effected the KB. It'd be nice if we had video footage or something.

The cypher grab is 100% confirmed gone though, so a wins a win.

The only things proven are:
- Usmash slightly stronger
- Getting grabbed out of upb now refreshes upb
I'm still not certain about Usmash, but Fsmash is proven to have slightly more cooldown.

Okay, definitely not relevant at all, but now HA won't miss a standing Pit.

Seems like the HA lock on system has changed a bit: in 1.0.3 (and possibly earlier) it would go to the place where the opponent was a moment before the HA was released. It seems that that time window was shortened so it improves the HA's accuracy a little.

Not many noticeable changes but here's a nice one: Springing Headbutt sucks even more now lols (no more increased height)

Interesting, I'd like to see the HA thing in action.

And man, Sonic has such good customs...
