Please watch all 6 parts if you have time, it is completely revolting.

This is happening EVERYWHERE, OPEN YOUR EYES. I'm sitting in my room now afraid realizing there is no one protecting me.

Yeah. This stuff has been going on for a while--a long while. I remember the Grant case most vividly. The case at the end of #3 is troubling because it seems that the cop has some kind of mental disorder (like a phobia of germs) that might have been triggered by the heightened state of adrenaline he was in.

I have nothing to say here. I know people who have been stopped, cuffed and searched for walking down the street. They're just lucky they weren't tased or shot.

On the other hand, I know at least one person who is an officer, who seems like a decent person overall.

Even so, abuse of power is abuse of power. Individuals aren't allowed to abuse others; agents of the law also aren't allowed to do it either. When the law is abusive, that is systematic oppression, which is worse than abusive individuals acting alone. How to stop it? Solutions are difficult. There are non-profits set up to handle cases of misconduct. It's a tough battle.

A necessary battle though. Power that is unchecked is dangerous.

It really is eye-opening,

as a child I trusted the police but looking back at all the events in which they were involved in my life they did NOTHING but help themselves.

Welcome to the concrete jungle. It's not just America, this is everywhere.

Don't tell me you ever had faith in them in the first place, did you? Don't worry, just be exceedingly rich and influential. You can place great faith in them then.

Excellent find, I watched all 6 and it's definitely a well put together documentary and worth a look.

As is pointed out on the creator's web page police officers underwent a tremendous shift during the Vietnam War era. This was due largely in part to the shift in attitudes of many Americans towards African Americans and other minorities. It was a really difficult time for them as they had finally had enough of being "all back of the bus, 'n ****." And it led to an explosion of demonstrations, rallies and violence.

You can't expect a racist nation like America to just sit back and let the non-whites rise up in arms or in peace and not be met with serious repercussions.

Because minorities refused to remain in their 2nd class citizenry a war was started, that is STILL going on today, and is actually escalating now more than ever towards an inevitable end. Who fired the first shot? They did. Instead of doing the right thing, and allowing minorities to live equally amongst whites, the government literally hand-picked nam-era veterans to head up their own police forces... mentally maladjusted gun toting psychopaths to lead a new order of street military whose sole purpose isn't to Protect and Serve, but to Enforce and Punish.

That was 30 years ago.

Now that it's become doctrine there IS no easy solution. For every good cop who's perfectly content to write traffic tickets and push pencils, you've got 10 who all join up just for the chance to beat on folks. It's worse than the military. At least with the military you can be a douche in some other country. But the police is here... and we are its target. A bored cop is the most dangerous cop. Can't even look the wrong way or you'll end up in an impossible situation.

What do we do? heh well his message is almost equally as militant, which is unfortunately detracting from its power. We can't arm ourselves for the final battle or something ridiculous, its just not going to happen. What we -can- do is continue to support .orgs that report on this sort of thing. Notice that as soon as a cop starts acting out of line out comes the video phones, camera phones, etc. You are being watched, Police of America. Do the right thing, or that badge you seem so fit to wear will become a shroud.

"Wearin' that badge don't make you right. Who in the hell do you think you are, anyway?"

It's funny because the way the cops acted it really reminded me of thugs from the estates/projects trying to cause trouble for no good reason.

No seriously, if you've ever been in confrontation with a group of thugs, you'll realise they draw direct parallels to police officers.

Yes, another good point, and in fact a direct result of the war. So-called Projects were literally planned concentration camps, built close to highways for easy access by National Guard personnel, and flooded with drugs, guns and hatred. When they started spilling out into the rest of the city, cops had a new challenge, and had to lower themselves to the same mentality they so carefully engineered in the first place; a sick cycle of abuse and corruption.
