Well, it's the same as just tilting up and pressing A. The C-stick for tilts (or smashes and control stick tilted to up or down) has relatively the same speed.

I now almost use the C-stick exclusively (sans Nair and Ftilt), and this has no real speed advantage as far as I know.

How so? It seems the C-stick in this game makes things one frame longer to appear than one frame sooner as in Melee.

My frameovision is out of whack though; someone call Ankoku. <_<

In my opinion though, it's all based on preference so it shouldn't really matter. What works no?

I use this tactic, I doubt that its faster, but i've known about it for a while and like VietGeek, I use all c-stick minus Nair and Ftilt, but yeah this is old news dude...

I personally hate how it does a tilt attack if you're holding the analog stick in a direction when you push the c-stick. It's messed me up so many times, and is really unnecessary, because you can just push A instead. And tilting with the c-stick wouldn't be any faster at all; the only reason it's faster with smashes is because there is no charge time, whereas with the A button you'll probably end up charging involuntarily for at least a frame or so unless your timing is perfect.
