Pokemon and Final Fantasy.

Both series are freakin amazing, but the fandoms can be really annoying. Any discussion about either ultimately ends in "Which generation is best?" (Pokemon) or "Which FF game is the best?"

The other thing I hate about FF in particular is that the majority of the fandom has only played FF7, watched advent children, or has only played Kingdom Hearts and claims to be a fan and will bash the hell out of you if you say that FF7 is not the best game ever.

^ on the topic of FF and KH fandoms, there are TONS of shipping wars and character bashing (primarily of females cause waaaaah she's ruining my hot yaoiz or something stupid like that) and the insane ones bash people who like the characters/pairings they hate. That's why I keep my distance from those fandoms.

there are always people who take things to the extreme and those are the people that stand out unfortunately.

so really any fandom can be cringe inducing.

the homestuck fandom, I wore the Dave pixel record shirt at the local mall once and had some spazlord jump up in my face all "OMG UR A HOME STUCK IM A HOME STUCK LETS BE FRIENDS." I got a ton quieter about homestuck and other stuff I liked because of stuff like this.

the five nights at freddy's fandom. despite them being very solid horror games (most notably the first), the fandoms levels of crazy children skyrocketed thanks to the over acting let's players like markiplier and pewdiepie. this one, like the homestuck fandom, painted a negative light on the actual material to outsiders and now there's this stigma around them. I hate it.

the splatoon fandom can also be bizarre and incredibly awkward with their very thinly veiled desire to romance squid lolis

I'm really of the opinion that 99% of fandoms are trash

FNAF. I love the games but the fandom is just, eugh.

Alot of console wars bullcrap for the gaming community. I cared when I was, like, 12. The arguments get way too long, and people act like you can't enjoy your own while respecting the preferences of others.

Steven Universe. While the fandom won't stop me from liking the show, it's basically the third generation of the Homestuck fandom (the second being OFF/Dangan Ronpa). The neverending over-analyzing and race/sexuality discussions are unnecessary and tiring at this point.

Nintendo fandom in general, especially after amiibos. The cringe is real.

This. Fandoms in general are just toxic to me, which sucks because you're pretty much always part of one. A particularly terrible fandom can very easily steer me away from something that I otherwise might be interested in - Homestuck and anime are the most common examples for me, I do not want to be associated with some of the more... outrageous folks there. Either way, I really just try to distance myself from "teh fandums" and not get too involved in them.

Smash fandom. No offense to any of you personally, but part of this fandom is so immature it's ridiculous.
MLP fandom. Some of the fans go too far at times, for me, and it can be embarrassing.

Smash: specifically with the speculation section of everything. Sure, I could go on and on with the competitive aspect; but one, everything that needed to be said has; and two, I despise speculation more to be honest.

Now, don't get me wrong, I like seeing there characters I love get in. I'm certain everyone does, but my God there's a point to where one has to say it's a freaking game. It's not like it's end of the world because heaven forbid your Christmas list of characters didn't get in. And then there's the arguments. We know next to nothing about who's getting in, and yet we act like we know exactly what's in Sakurai's head. I don't get it, why is this character a shoo-in because they were an Assist Trophy? Why do certain characters have to get in over others? Why the Hell am I an awful human being because I don't care for Geno? And no, I don't care about your ten page essay how Dixie Kong will get in over K. Rool. Because in the end it's opinions fighting other opinions and somehow I'm supposed to take this as 100% fact. It's like shipping wars but with video games; what's the point?
