falcos fair, a deadly weapon?

hi fello falcians....

i was just wondering if there are any good uses for falcos fair....
ive come up with a few different strategies, none really add up to much, more situational really...

eg, you can use it in place of a dair, shine.... so if your opponent suspects that you may go for the dair, shine they put up thier shield and hope you miss your L cancel so that they can sheild grab... well if you short hop and fair (not fastfalled), you will hit the shield with the first hit and if they tried to shield grab they will be hit by the second attack... doesnt always work.. but its good for a mix up.

and another is with fastfallers on FD, when they are knocked off the edge and are trying to recover you can jump out (full jump) do the fair and if you timed it rite you will follow the enemy down hitting them multiple times (they and you are now too low to get back up), and at the end of the animation do your double jump and dair them into death...

thats about all ive come up with the fair... iw as just wonderin if anyone else knows good strategies for it... cause no one in vids seems to use it much... so does that mean its crap? or just an untapped resource?

it is a move and can be used to replace the nair since it also acts as a sex kick in a way. Also as you mentioned it can carry your opponent across stages and continue comboes or get them in a position where you want them (ie in the pit of pokemon stadium if u choose). It also can be used to juggle the opponent with by shffling it similar to the nair but i dont use it as much because i fear running off the edge fairing and not returning because i fell too much or that once u start it, you cant do something else unless u land or the animation ends. (or u get hit)

I agree that it does look stupid and the mind game idea with shield grabs is great but I've also used it(by accident) at higher percents and it seems to set up combos at higher damages better so if your having trouble getting a killing blow this could add up the damage and let you get a finishing dair or nair or whatever you can string, haven't looked into this but could set up nice killing blows higher up if you do plz let me know what seems to work

I like to ledge hop, fair on opponents who get too close to the edge when I'm hanging... Works kinda like a LDHL, but can send 'em flying at higher percentages.

Probably not good to use 100% of the time, since it's kind of punishable if you miss the L-Cancel, but it's one use I've come across.

Those are about the only uses I've seen for fair as well. Another one I like is ledgehopping it as a recovery tactic once in a while in place of LHDL or dair... throws my opponent off once in a while, not a bad option (admittedly I stole this idea from forward after seeing him use it to great affect in some of his videos).

I do it alot when coming from the ledge. I will short hop on to the field and sometimes just use the Fair, it usually hits my opponents lol.

Edit: LOL i didnt even read your post xelad sorry. ^^^

i checked the high damage thing...
your rite, at high damages it pops them up nicely for combos, but i had some trouble because sometimes it would pop them up behind me, which basically ruins the comboability,
and at really high damages the second hit can KO....
i think the fair sucks in honesty... lol
thanx for the additional ideas driz... i wish there was something really cool you could do with the fair tho... lyke if it was similar to rest, lol thatd kick ***

Montreal. PM me if you're on the island! I need op
I've accidentally done shine -> fair combos. If you use the shine in the air, then doublejump out immediately and fair ASAP, you'll follow your opponent into the air, landing all 4 kicks as you rise.

I only ever did it to computers though...I get the feeling it could very easily be DIed out of by a human. I'll stick to my other aerials, thanks.

i think the uthrow>fair can connect w/ 2-4 hits on marth/ peach at low %s. Can also be used when the nair just doesn't have the range. I try to avoid it in general though.

**** i tried fooling with it to find a good use for it.

but i couldnt, it sucks. the only good thing is trying to connect all the hits for alot of damage. but in general theres almost always a better move to do in its place.

the only thing i ever did with it was found out that it goes through some platforms when you short hop it, liek the up air and back air, but i always forget to use it, and don't really know what it could set up for. depends on the damage i guess..

If you short hop your f-air you can sometimes connect two of the kicks and get a little knock back...

I'll sometimes use it after a f-throw, though if your opponent knows it's coming they can get away pretty easily. Still, I've used it to successfully set up spikes on a few occasions.

Of course, n-air serves the same purpose and does it much better...

Yes, it is very deadly.
It's just about his best attack.
It has priority over pretty much everything.

it actually does have pretty good range... although ive never actually seen the hitbox...
all i know is that when peach does her Dsmash and you go in with a fair, the fair takes priority.... or at least i think so... ive done it a few times...
does anyone have a link to a picture of falcos Fair hitbox?
