How do you tech this? I can't tech-roll this to any side and I've been practicing for a while and I can't do it. My Friend Falco keeps chain grabbing me just by doing a D-grab because i can't tech.

Any advice?

I think you have to press L or R when the animation from the Lasers hits you then you can roll.

IIRC you cant tech a move if you press L during hitstun from an attack, so if you press L right when one of the lasers hits you it wont work. you have to press it either between laser hits (very difficult) or right after the last laser hit, a couple frames before you actaully get thrown away (aka hit the ground).

fox can't tech falcos d throw on ntsc version. you can only di away or shine him out of it after the lasers hit you.

O.o seriously? I can Chain Grab my fox friend by just following his DI with a dash JC grab and hten do it again and again. I didn't know you could just chain grab fox like that :o

Now the shining out of it helps.

So it means that I can do a D-grab + D-smash and it will always hit? (unless they Di away really hard?)

you can tech out of it on pal, it only works on that version. Although at high damages you bounce after the d-throw and can tech after that. D-throw to downsmash will work if it is unexpected, but is definitely something not to be relied upon. Generally following fox's di after down-throw isn't reliable as fox recovers very quickly after di ing away and can simply roll away quickly or whatever. But if your friends don't know this then it'll work just fine.

You cant actually tech it, fox just stands out of it. at higher percents, you actually bounce (allowing for the dthrow>dsmash combo to actually work) but after the bounce, you can tech it.
oh, and by high % i mean like 90-100+. plain and simple, fox just stands out of falco's dthrow, no teching involved.

You can actually start teching the dthrow after about 120% or so.

Otherwise, if you think the Falco's going for a grab, shine immediately after the grab. Otherwise just DI away and shield the oncoming dsmash (or something else, if anything).

You said 'after the bound you can tech it' what do you mean? doesn't fox just bounce and stand up everytime on its own (no need to touch the controller) ?. So the onyl way to get away is just roll after you bounce?

Thank you all for your replies you're all so helpful :)

wow, its unbelievable how many people are not knowledgable about this game. You cannot tech falco's dthrow. Falco and any other character can, but not fox. Fox simply stands up without ever getting knocked down. This is why it is a pseudo chaingrab. The Falco can regrab you after the dthrow, but shine is fast enough to interrupt the regrabs.(hence the pseudo part)
