I originally posted this in another thread, but I did a test on the entire cast (then did a quick double check) and found that if you switch simultaneously between performing a single jab and a d-throw that you can do more damage than a regular chain grab (regular equaling a total of 45% damage average [depending on the character of course]). You can shuffle it up anytime as well and do a string of d-throws with a random jab as well. There were a few, however, that it didn’t work too well on (i.e. those whose total damage ended up below the 45% mark):

The following data was tested:
1. On Final Destination
2. With Level 9 CPUs set to Control mode
3. With the character damage starting at 0%

Mario - 61% (65% starting with jab)
DK - 35% (39% starting with jab)
Link - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Samus - 48% (39% starting with jab)
Zero Suit Samus - 35% (39% starting with jab)
Kirby - 65% (82% starting with jab)
Fox - 52% (43% starting with jab)
Pikachu - 65% (69% starting with jab)
Marth - 35% (39% starting with jab)
G&W - 65% (69% starting with jab)
Luigi - 61% (65% starting with jab)
Diddy - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Zelda - 9% (13% starting with jab)
Sheik - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Pit - 74% (65% starting with jab)
MK - 65% (69% starting with jab)
Falco - 48% (39% starting with jab)
Charizard - 74% (78% starting with jab)
Squirtle - 52% (56% starting with jab)
Ivysaur - 78% (82% starting with jab)
Ike - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Snake - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Peach - 22% (26% starting with jab)
Yoshi - 78% (82% starting with jab)
Ganon - 35% (39% starting with jab)
Ice Climbers - 74% (69% starting with jab)
DDD - 22% (26% starting with jab)
Wolf - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Lucario - 35% (39% starting with jab)
Ness - 48 (52% starting with jab)
Sonic - 22% (26% starting with jab)
Bowser - 65% (69% starting with jab)
Wario - 78% (82% starting with jab)
Toon Link - 35% (39% starting with jab)
R.O.B. - 87% (78% starting with jab)
Olimar - 78% (82% starting with jab)
Captain Falcon - 48% (52% starting with jab)
Jigglypuff - 35% (65% starting with jab)
Lucas - 48% (52% starting with jab)

In all, I found that starting with the jab was best (for the most part) averaging an extra 4% damage on the majority of the cast. Any errors that I might have made, please post if so.

EDIT: I've also found that you halt their forward trajectory when you jab them so they don't go too far out of your grabbing range.

In training mode remember that the jab and dthrow do not decay. So in actual use the jab goes quickly from 4% to 2% each hit. Also I have done this on the CPU and found that people can jump out after the jab and getting grabbed, so do the percents that you have end at when jab to grab is no longer viable?

As I still do not have access to my Wii, can you do me a favour and confirm that doing this with attack decay still allows for an inescapable chaingrab that lasts longer than would be normal? I had always been under the impression that Jab -> Grab was escapable under all circumstances.

Sorry but jabbing between throws isn't good as it ends the chaingrab earlier meaning you won't be able to spike at the end.

Same reason why people don't pummel during chainthrows.

Well I've found that you can stand in place and eliminate their forward trajectory (especially considering those who can't be chaingrabbed).
it still increases their percent which means when its time to spike them they will be too high percent for you to spike them.

Despite it not being spikeable, if it does provide that much extra damage + the opportunity for a chase and is still inescapable, it might be worth doing on light characters who you know are just going to recover from the spike without much harassment potential, like Jiggs, MK, or G&W.

But again, I still don't see how this could be inescapable, and my Wii is still in Edmonton.

If it's inescapable, can someone confirm that marths upB is not being used? I asked this a few posts ago and nobody seems to notice that we suddenly have a CG on marth.

marth can only be CG twice form zero, he can escape afterwards with DIng back + upb. This is with a regular CG, but i've seen marth punish a jab (when marth is hit) with an upB, so i guess its escapable.

If you're implying jabbing after the downthrow then regrabbing to continue the chaingrab, there's no way this will work. And you said that you had the cpu on control mode, did you have a friend trying to escape the chaingrab? If not then the percentages are worthless.

Almost all of these have to be escapable.

That's true. If you jab after your D-throw, it makes your opponent too far away to grab again. So this a is a really useless topic.

While I have tested that you can grab again, I'm beginning to see that it wouldn't make much of a difference, especially when linking it with the spike. Feel free to lock if it is, in fact, useless.
